In fact, the opposite is true!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14844 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/goyim.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/goyim.png 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/goyim-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>All the Nations Together<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the days of the Bible,\u00a0<strong>the Hebrew word\u00a0<em>goy\u00a0<\/em>\u05d2\u05d5\u05b9\u05d9 was simply the way of saying &#8220;nation.&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0Each of the great peoples of the world (the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Assyrians) is called a\u00a0<em>goy\u00a0<\/em>in the Bible. The people of Israel are also called a\u00a0<em>goy\u00a0<\/em>(Genesis 12:2). The prophet Isaiah imagines a wonderful messianic future where,\u00a0<strong>\u201cnation (<em>goy<\/em>) shall not lift up sword against nation (<em>goy<\/em>)\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0(Isa. 2:4).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14845 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Goyim-1-e1616114857952.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Chosen People Alone<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the nations of the world are all\u00a0<em>goyim\u00a0<\/em>(plural of\u00a0<em>goy<\/em>), there is no inherent difference between Jews and Gentiles. So why are the Jews the \u201cchosen people\u201d? The Bible says explicitly that Israel did nothing to deserve being chosen (Deut. 7:6-8).\u00a0<strong>Rather God decided to give Israel the weighty responsibly of being his &#8220;special treasure&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>segula<\/em>) so they could be the channel of blessing to all people on earth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14846 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Goyim-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Goyim-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Goyim-2-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Come to Zion with Hebrew<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From Abraham\u2019s family tree, came Israel, from whom eventually the Messiah was born.
