Dangers buzz in the background. No parent can sit still while his or her child suffers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1620 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jairus_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jairus_1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jairus_1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jairus_1-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luke Chapter 8 tells us that Jairus couldn\u2019t.\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cThen a man named Jairus, a leader of the local synagogue, came and fell at Jesus\u2019 feet, pleading with him to come home with him. His only daughter, who was about twelve years old, was dying\u201d (vs. 40-42).<\/p>\n<p>Jesus heeded his fears\u2026he still does. Jesus heeds the concerns in the parent\u2019s heart. After all, our kids were his kids first. Even as they are ours, they are still his. We forget that fact. Wise are the parents who regularly give their children back to God.<\/p>\n<p>Parents, we can be loyal advocates, stubborn intercessors; and we can take our parenting fears to Christ.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1621 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jesus-and-the-little-children1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jesus-and-the-little-children1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jesus-and-the-little-children1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/jesus-and-the-little-children1-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Entrust Your Kids to Christ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fear turns some parents into paranoid prison guards who monitor every minute, check the background of every friend. A family with no breathing room suffocates a child.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, fear can also create permissive parents. Fearing that their child will feel too confined or fenced in, they are high on hugs and low on discipline. They don\u2019t realize that appropriate discipline is an expression of love.<\/p>\n<p>Permissive parents. Paranoid parents. How can we avoid the extremes?<\/p>\n<p>We pray.\u00a0 Jesus\u2019 big message to moms and dads? Bring your children to me. Pray that your children have a profound sense of place in this world and a heavenly place in the next.
