You knew just what I\u2019d need! In case you need to make daddies for other kids, I thought you might like to know what I like best about the one you sent me:<\/p>\n<p>A good dad \u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>knows everything (like how to tie shoes and drive a car)<br \/>\n2. is really smart (he even knows where the wind goes after it blows through the trees)<br \/>\n3. has a forgiving heart (for when I mess up)<br \/>\n4. is loaded with patience, patience, patience (he probably won\u2019t need it, but just in case\u2026)<br \/>\n5. has a comfy lap and a big laugh (you understand about that, don\u2019t you?)<br \/>\n6. tells me all about you and your son.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Your friend,<\/p>\n<p>A Kid<\/p>\n<p>P.S. I almost left out the best part! A good dad has real strong arms (to catch me when I fall. No energy too great. No effort too demanding. A parent will go to any length to find his or her own.<\/p>\n<p>So will God.<\/p>\n<p>Mark it down. God\u2019s greatest creation is not the flung stars or the gorged canyons, it\u2019s his eternal plan to reach his children. Behind his pursuit of us is the same brilliance behind the rotating seasons and the orbiting planets. Heaven and earth knows no greater passion than God\u2019s personal passion for you and your relationship with him.<\/p>\n<p>Listen as God articulates his passion: \u201cMy heart beats for you and my love for you stirs up my pity. I won\u2019t punish you in my anger and I won\u2019t destroy Israel again. I am God and not a human. I am the Holy One, and I am among you.\u201d<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Before you read any further, reflect on those last four words, \u201cI am among you.\u201d Do you believe that? Do you believe God is near? He wants you to. He wants you to know He is in the midst of your world. Wherever you are as you read these words, He is present. In your car. On the plane. In your office, your bedroom, your den, He is near.<\/p>\n<p>He has involved himself in the car pools, heartbreaks, and funeral homes of our day. He is as near to us on a Monday as on a Sunday. God comes to the place where you live, steps up to the door, and knocks.
