Entrance to this sacred room was strictly forbidden with only one exception. One person, the High Priest, would enter the room once a year on the Day of Atonement. What did he do once he was inside?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22863 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/holy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/holy-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/holy-1-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>A conversation with God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The innermost room of the Temple in Jerusalem, was the Holy of Holies, which contained the Ark of the Covenant, a golden coffer, holding the two stone tablets of the Law. The Hebrew word used for the Holy of Holies is\u00a0<em>dvir<\/em>. This comes from\u00a0<strong>the root <\/strong><strong>\u05d3\u05d1\u05e8<\/strong><strong> (DBR), meaning \u201cto speak\u201d. It is here that the High Priest spoke directly to God<\/strong>. This happened once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22864 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/holy-2-e1659589367529.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"527\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The power of the Hebrew word<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The golden cover over the Ark of the Covenant was called \u05db\u05e4\u05e8\u05ea\u00a0<em>kaporet\u00a0<\/em>(Ex. 25:17) in Hebrew, which comes from the same root KPR, giving us the word\u00a0<em>kippur<\/em>, meaning \u201catonement.\u201d\u00a0<strong>Once the High Priest was inside the Holy of Holies, he would light incense to create a cloud that blocked his view of God\u2019s divine presence<\/strong>. Then he would speak words of prayer before the\u00a0<em>kaporet\u00a0<\/em>and sprinkle sacrificial blood on it (Lev. 16:11-14).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22865 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/holy-3-e1659589473263.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"391\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Understand the purest meaning of the Bible<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By purging the inner sanctum of any impurity once a year, the High Priest ensured that the people of Israel received atonement.
