But when we examine this word in the Bible\u2019s original Hebrew, we find that dispersion is much more than just being banished\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23487 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-2-300x157.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Revelation Through Removal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the Bible, the prophets of ancient Israel repeat the same message to the people: stop sinning, or God will punish you by allowing a foreign army to destroy the Land of Israel and exile you to a distant land. The original Hebrew word for \u201cexile\u201d is\u00a0<em>galut\u00a0<\/em>\u05d2\u05dc\u05d5\u05ea, from the root GLH \u05d2\u05dc\u05d4, meaning \u201cto remove\u201d.\u00a0<strong>The same root, can also mean \u201cto uncover the eyes or the ears\u201d \u2013 in other words, \u201cto reveal the truth.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23488 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/exile-3-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The message of the prophets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The doomsday message of the prophets is thus more complex than what appears at first glance.
