Stand Upon His Promises<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We come to Christ in an hour of deep need.\u00a0We realize that all the good works in the world are puny when laid before the Perfect One, so we beg for help. We hear his voice, and we step out in fear, hoping that our little faith will be enough. And with precious, wobbly steps, we draw close to him.\u00a0We stand upon his promises.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t make sense that we\u2019re able to do this.\u00a0We don\u2019t claim to be worthy of such an incredible gift.\u00a0When people ask how in the world we can keep our balance during such stormy times, we don\u2019t boast.\u00a0We point to the One who makes it possible.\u00a0\u201cNothing in my hand I bring; Simply to Thy cross I cling,\u201d we sing.\u00a0\u201cTwas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved,\u201d we declare.\u00a0And we never look back. May that be the anthem of your life.<\/p>\n

A Pat on the Back<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

How often do you see people more concerned about getting a job done right than they are about saving their necks?\u00a0Too seldom, right? But when we do\u2014when we see a gutsy human taking a few risks\u2014ah, now that\u2019s a person worthy of a pat on the back.<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s to the woman whose husband left her with a nest of kids to raise and bills to pay, but who somehow tells me every Sunday that God has never been closer.\u00a0Here\u2019s to the single father of two girls who learned to braid their hair.\u00a0Here\u2019s to the girl, told to abort the baby, who chose to keep the baby.\u00a0Here\u2019s to the doctor who treats more than half of his patients for free.\u00a0Here\u2019s to all of you reckless lovers of life and God.\u00a0So what if you forget about pleasing the crowd \u2013 most of us aren\u2019t even in your league.<\/p>\n
