Jesus described the sign of Jonah:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth\u201d (Mt. 12:40).<\/p>\n<p>If, according to tradition, Jesus died on Friday and was resurrected on Sunday, two days later, how do we get to \u201cthree days and three nights\u201d? First,\u00a0<strong>the \u201cdifferent calendars\u201d concept: the Passover feast days were calculated differently by different groups.\u00a0<\/strong>The difference between the Pharisaic date of Passover and the Sadducean date a day earlier, might explain the discrepancy between the Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John. One of the most important differences between Judean and Galilean Passover observance was a special fast: The Fast of the Firstborns. In Jewish tradition, the last meal before a fast is a very significant event. Thus,\u00a0<strong>on Wednesday night<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jesus and His disciples gathered to eat this special\u00a0<em>Last Supper \u2014\u00a0<\/em>the last meal before the Fast.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26004 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/jona-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/jona-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/jona-3-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>See the Sign of Jonah fulfilled<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to this concept, Jesus died on the cross\u00a0<strong>on Thursday, the 14th of Nisan.<\/strong>\u00a0In this case, the sign of Jonah was fulfilled precisely.
