God has a timeline. And, because of Bethlehem, we know where we stand on it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29070 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-2-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next great event is the Second Coming. There will be a sudden, personal, visible, bodily return of Christ. Jesus said: \u201c<strong>I will come again<\/strong>\u201d (Jn. 14:3). The author of Hebrews declared: \u201c<strong>Christ will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting on him<\/strong>\u201d (Heb. 9:28).<\/p>\n<p>As Christ came, he will come. But he won\u2019t come as he came.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29071 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/history-3-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He came quietly in Bethlehem.\u00a0\u00a0 He will return in glory with a shout. \u201c<strong>All who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out\u201d<\/strong> (Jn. 5:28).<\/p>\n<p>In Bethlehem, the just-born Jesus slept. Upon his return, \u201c<strong>The Lord will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet call of God<\/strong>\u201d (1 Thess. 4:16).<\/p>\n<p>At the first coming, few people noticed. At his second, \u201c<strong>All the nations of the world will be gathered before him<\/strong>\u201d (Mt. 25:32).<\/p>\n<p>In Bethlehem, Joseph placed Jesus in a manger. At his return, Jesus will be seated on a throne: \u201c<strong>The Son of Man will come in great glory, with all his angels. He will be king and sit on his great throne<\/strong>\u201d (Mt. 25:31).<\/p>\n<p>This Christmas, enjoy the fruit of the first coming, but anticipate the glory of the second. We live between the advents.
