God Answer To Job<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job is perhaps the most tragic person in the Bible. Despite being \u201cblameless and upright\u2026 fearing God and turning away from evil\u201d he is dreadfully punished and then blamed by his friends. They insist his punishment was from having sinned, and he insists \u200che did nothing wrong. In the end, after 37 chapters of silence, God finally reveals himself and gives a very surprising answer. Do you know what it is?<\/p>\n

A Deep Understanding of Job<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>God says to Job, \u201cWhere were you when I laid the earth\u2019s foundation? Tell me if you have understanding\u201d (Job 38:4). In this, he is saying that we human beings have no right to question divine justice because we do not see the full picture. We cannot make complete sense of reward and punishment because we do not truly understand the ways of the universe. In the original Hebrew,\u00a0the word for understanding is\u00a0binah<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>\u05d1\u05d9\u05e0\u05d4<\/strong>. This is not just knowledge of facts learned from books, but true wisdom obtained through spiritual enlightenment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Binah<\/em>\u00a0is not something that ordinary humans can expect to have. It\u2019s reserved for extraordinary individuals, like Jesus. When writing about the future Messiah, the prophet Isaiah said that a shoot shall grow out of the stump of Jesse and from his roots, the Branch will bear fruit.\u00a0The Branch of\u00a0Jesse will have the Spirit of wisdom and understanding<\/strong>,\u00a0binah<\/em>\u00a0(Isa. 11:1-2).<\/p>\n
