Tonight, I remembered something my father once taught me \u2014 without saying a word.<\/p>\n

After a long day at work, my mom served dinner and placed a piece of toast in front of my dad… completely burnt.<\/p>\n

As a child, I froze, waiting to see if he\u2019d react.<\/p>\n

But he didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

He took the toast, smiled at my mom, asked me about my day at school, and calmly ate it \u2014 butter, jam, and all \u2014 as if it were the finest slice in the world.<\/p>\n

Later that night, I overheard my mom apologize for the burnt toast.<\/p>\n

My father replied with his usual warmth:<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t worry. I like my toast a little extra crispy sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

That moment stayed with me. Not because of the toast, but because of what came after.<\/p>\n

Before bed, I asked him quietly, \u201cDad\u2026 did you really like it?\u201d<\/p>\n

He hugged me and said something I\u2019ll never forget:<\/p>\n

\u201cSon, your mom had a hard day. A burnt piece of toast doesn\u2019t hurt anyone. But harsh words could.\u201d<\/p>\n

And then he added,<\/p>\n

\u201cLife isn\u2019t perfect. People aren\u2019t perfect. What matters most is kindness. Learning to accept the small mistakes, and loving others through their imperfect moments \u2014 that\u2019s what keeps love alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before I left the room, he kissed my forehead and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cHappiness isn\u2019t a straight road.\u00a0It has curves called mistakes,\u00a0traffic lights we call friends,\u00a0and warning signs known as family.\u00a0And when it gets hard, just remember:\u00a0Carry a spare tire called determination,\u00a0an engine named love,\u00a0insurance called faith,\u00a0a full tank of patience…and the best driver of all: God<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n
