The speaker knows they stand in\u00a0<em>brit<\/em>\u00a0(covenant) and can speak\u00a0<em>directly<\/em>\u00a0to God, even while trembling.<\/p>\n<p>The Hebrew word\u00a0<strong>\u05ea\u05b9\u05d5\u05db\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b5\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 (tokhicheni)<\/strong>\u00a0means more than \u201crebuke\u201d. It carries the sense of\u00a0<strong>correcting through reason<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>disciplining with purpose<\/strong>. This is soul-deep fatigue.<\/p>\n<p>The Hebrew root of \u201cgroaning\u201d, \u05d0\u05b8\u05e0\u05b7\u05d7 (<em>anach<\/em>), appears in other psalms and prophets.
