Psalm 7 is a cry for justice.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cO Lord my God, in You I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.\u201d (Psalm 7:1)<\/em><\/p>\n

In Hebrew, the word for refuge is\u00a0\u05d7\u05b8\u05e1\u05b8\u05d4 (chasah),<\/strong>\u00a0to flee for protection, to hide beneath a shield. It\u2019s not passive safety; it\u2019s active trust, like running beneath God\u2019s wings in the middle of danger.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Later, David declares:\u00a0\u201cThe LORD judges the peoples; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(Psalm 7:8)<\/p>\n

The word for judge here is \u05e9\u05b8\u05c1\u05e4\u05b7\u05d8 (shafat), to govern, to set right, to bring order. In Jewish tradition, God as shofet tzedek (righteous judge)\u00a0<\/strong>is one who balances justice with mercy.<\/p>\n

Psalm 7 describes God as sharpening His sword and bending His bow. In Hebrew, \u05d7\u05b8\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b7\u05e4\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 (charah appo) means \u201cHis nose burns\u201d . This is an idiom for anger. This vivid, almost physical image shows\u00a0God\u2019s wrath against injustice,<\/strong>\u00a0a reminder that evil is not ignored but confronted.<\/p>\n

The psalm closes with a vow:\u00a0\u201cI will give thanks to the LORD according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(Psalm 7:17)<\/p>\n

Here, the word \u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05d3\u05b6\u05d4 (odeh), \u201cI will give thanks,\u201d comes from the root \u05d9\u05d3\u05d4 (yadah), to cast, to throw, to confess.\u00a0Gratitude\u00a0<\/strong>in Hebrew thought is not private emotion but an\u00a0outward act, cast before God in trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Jewish tradition, psalms like this show us that prayer includes lament, anger, and pleas for justice, not only praise. Psalm 7 teaches that we can bring the raw edges of our hearts to God, trusting Him as both shield and judge.\u00a0Even anger becomes prayer,<\/strong>\u00a0pursuit becomes refuge, and justice becomes a song of gratitude.<\/p>\n
