This week\u2019s\u00a0<em>Torah\u00a0<\/em>portion is\u00a0<em>Tetzaveh,<\/em>\u00a0which means \u201ccontributions,\u201d from Exodus 27:20-30:10.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this week\u2019s\u00a0<em>Torah\u00a0<\/em>portion, God commanded Moses to tell the \u201cskilled workers\u201d to create the priestly garments for Aaron. A careful look at the original Hebrew verse reveals that the term \u201cskilled\u201d comes from two Hebrew words that literally mean \u201cwise of heart.\u201d God called these workers \u201cwise of heart\u201d because it was their hearts, not their heads, which provided the knowledge and understanding necessary for such a holy task.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38193 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-1-260x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-1-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-1-611x705.jpg 611w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-1.jpg 625w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In our culture, we tend to believe that wisdom comes from books, and that the mind is the seat of all knowledge. But Scripture tells us in Proverbs that \u201c<em>the LORD gives wisdom<\/em>\u201d (2:6) and that\u00a0<em>\u201cwisdom will enter your heart<\/em>\u201d (2:10). True wisdom comes from God and lives in our hearts.<\/p>\n<p>When I decided to marry my husband, arguably the most important decision I have ever made, the decision came from my heart. When we decided to make\u00a0<em>aliyah<\/em>\u00a0(immigrate to Israel) and move to the Holy Land, my head told me that it didn\u2019t make any sense to leave behind the land, culture, and language I knew, let alone my entire family. Yet, my heart wouldn\u2019t leave me alone and kept telling me that Israel was where I belonged.<\/p>\n<p>When we arrived in Israel, and I told my father that I wanted to work at The Fellowship offices in Jerusalem, he tried to talk me out of it. He encouraged me to pursue a different career\u2014one that would provide a more comfortable lifestyle. But my heart knew that I was meant for the work at The Fellowship, and I refused to be turned away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38194 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-2-e1763013914179.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wisdom of the Heart<\/h2>\n<p>Every important choice that I have ever made was informed by my head, but ultimately was decided based on the God-given wisdom of my heart.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever we have an important decision to make, yes, we must surely turn to the seat of wisdom for guidance. Yet, while our minds can provide us with indispensable knowledge, we must always remember that God places wisdom in our hearts\u2014and sometimes our hearts have reasons that even our minds cannot understand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38195 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-3.jpg 640w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-3-236x300.jpg 236w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wisdom-3-554x705.jpg 554w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Your turn:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0What decisions are you facing today? What is your head telling you? What is your heart telling you? Pray to God about it and ask for His guidance.
