It may come as a surprise that Jesus of Nazareth was not actually called Jesus.\u00a0<strong>The English name Jesus is based on the Greek pronunciation of his real Hebrew name, which was \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05e9\u05e2\u00a0<em>Yehoshua<\/em><\/strong>. This is similar to countless other names in the Bible that begin with the letters\u00a0<em>Yeho<\/em>, always a shorthand for the Lord\u2019s sacred name\u00a0<em>Yahweh<\/em>.
