Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s passage is Ezekiel 7:14-27.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Ezekiel 7:14-17 (NIV)
\n14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Though they blow the trumpet and get everything ready, no one will go into battle, for my wrath is upon the whole crowd.
\n15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0“Outside is the sword, inside are plague and famine; those in the country will die by the sword, and those in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.
\n16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0All who survive and escape will be in the mountains, moaning like doves of the valleys, each because of his sins.
\n17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Every hand will go limp, and every knee will become as weak as water.
\n18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They will put on sackcloth and be clothed with terror. Their faces will be covered with shame and their heads will be shaved.<\/p>\n

On verses 14-17:\u00a0 Though the Israelites may be tempted to put their hope in their own military strength, their military will only disappoint them (v14).\u00a0 They will be no match for the forces coming against them (v15-18).<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0Our own strength is no match for God.\u00a0 We could never escape God\u2019s wrath by our own strength.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ezekiel 7:18-21 (NIV)<\/strong>
\n19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the\u00a0LORD’s wrath. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it, for it has made them stumble into sin.
\n20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They were proud of their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols and vile images. Therefore I will turn these into an unclean thing for them.
\n21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will hand it all over as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, and they will defile it.
\n<\/em>
\nOn verses 18-21:\u00a0 Though the Israelites chased after money and material possessions, they will eventually realize that these things cannot save them from God\u2019s wrath (v19-21), or satisfy their hunger for meaning and purpose (v19b \u2013 \u201cThey will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it\u201d).<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0Money and material possessions cannot save us or give us the meaning and purpose we are looking for.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ezekiel 7:22-27 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will turn my face away from them, and they will desecrate my treasured place; robbers will enter it and desecrate it.
\n23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0“Prepare chains, because the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of violence.
\n24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will bring the most wicked of the nations to take possession of their houses; I will put an end to the pride of the mighty, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.
\n25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When terror comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.
\n26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will try to get a vision from the prophet; the teaching of the law by the priest will be lost, as will the counsel of the elders.
\n27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am the\u00a0LORD.”<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 22-27:\u00a0 Here Ezekiel describes how the Israelites may later try to place their hope in their traditional forms of religion (v22-26) and in their own politicians (v27), but these will prove hopeless as well.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0Religion with its rules and traditions cannot save us from God\u2019s wrath, nor can people with political power.\u00a0 The only One who can save us from God\u2019s wrath is God Himself.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Father, today I confess that neither physical might, material possessions, money nor religion can save me or give me the meaning I am looking for.\u00a0 Only Your Son Jesus can do that.\u00a0 I thank You for Your Son Jesus and I place my trust in Him today.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
