Their faces will be covered with shame and their heads will be shaved.<\/p>\n<p>On verses 14-17:\u00a0 Though the Israelites may be tempted to put their hope in their own military strength, their military will only disappoint them (v14).\u00a0 They will be no match for the forces coming against them (v15-18).<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Our own strength is no match for God.\u00a0 We could never escape God\u2019s wrath by our own strength.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ezekiel 7:18-21 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s wrath. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it, for it has made them stumble into sin.<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They were proud of their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols and vile images. Therefore I will turn these into an unclean thing for them.<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will hand it all over as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, and they will defile it.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 18-21:\u00a0 Though the Israelites chased after money and material possessions, they will eventually realize that these things cannot save them from God\u2019s wrath (v19-21), or satisfy their hunger for meaning and purpose (v19b \u2013 \u201cThey will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the lesson here?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Money and material possessions cannot save us or give us the meaning and purpose we are looking for.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ezekiel 7:22-27 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will turn my face away from them, and they will desecrate my treasured place; robbers will enter it and desecrate it.<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Prepare chains, because the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of violence.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will bring the most wicked of the nations to take possession of their houses; I will put an end to the pride of the mighty, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When terror comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will try to get a vision from the prophet; the teaching of the law by the priest will be lost, as will the counsel of the elders.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them.
