Today\u2019s passage is Ezekiel 27:1-24.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Ezekiel 27:1-24 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n1\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The word of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0came to me:
\n2\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“Son of man, take up a lament concerning Tyre.
\n3\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Say to Tyre, situated at the gateway to the sea, merchant of peoples on many coasts, ‘This is what the Sovereign\u00a0LORD\u00a0says:\u00a0“‘You say, O Tyre,\u00a0“I am perfect in beauty.”
\n4\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Your domain was on the high seas;\u00a0your builders brought your beauty to perfection.
\n5\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They made all your timbers\u00a0of pine trees from Senir;\u00a0they took a cedar from Lebanon\u00a0to make a mast for you.
\n6\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Of oaks from Bashan\u00a0they made your oars;\u00a0of cypress wood from the coasts of Cyprus\u00a0they made your deck, inlaid with ivory.
\n7\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was your sail\u00a0and served as your banner;\u00a0your awnings were of blue and purple\u00a0from the coasts of Elishah.
\n8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Men of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;\u00a0your skilled men, O Tyre, were aboard as your seamen.
\n9\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Veteran craftsmen of Gebal were on board\u00a0as shipwrights to caulk your seams.\u00a0All the ships of the sea and their sailors\u00a0came alongside to trade for your wares.
\n10\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Men of Persia, Lydia and Put\u00a0served as soldiers in your army.\u00a0They hung their shields and helmets on your walls,\u00a0bringing you splendor.
\n11\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Men of Arvad and Helech\u00a0manned your walls on every side;\u00a0men of Gammad\u00a0were in your towers.\u00a0They hung their shields around your walls;\u00a0they brought your beauty to perfection.
\n12\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of goods; they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.
\n13\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Greece, Tubal and Meshech traded with you; they exchanged slaves and articles of bronze for your wares.
\n14\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Men of Beth Togarmah exchanged work horses, war horses and mules for your merchandise.
\n15\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘The men of Rhodes traded with you, and many coastlands were your customers; they paid you with ivory tusks and ebony.
\n16\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Aram did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise, purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies for your merchandise.
\n17\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Judah and Israel traded with you; they exchanged wheat from Minnith and confections, honey, oil and balm for your wares.
\n18\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Damascus, because of your many products and great wealth of goods, did business with you in wine from Helbon and wool from Zahar.
\n19\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Danites and Greeks from Uzal bought your merchandise; they exchanged wrought iron, cassia and calamus for your wares.
\n20\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Dedan traded in saddle blankets with you.
\n21\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats.
\n22\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices and precious stones, and gold.
\n23\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘Haran, Canneh and Eden and merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Kilmad traded with you.
\n24\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 1-24:\u00a0 Here in these verses we really get a sense of how prosperous, beautiful and sophisticated was the city of Tyre.\u00a0 Verses 4 through 7 speak of Tyre’s asthetic beauty.\u00a0 Verses 8 through 11 speak of how Tyre attracted the best and the brightest, making their shipping industry and military very powerful.\u00a0 Verses 12 to 24 speak of Tyre’s extensive trade relationships and burgeoning economy.\u00a0 As powerful, prosperous and beautiful as Tyre was, the one problem we see in Tyre — which would prove to be her fatal flaw — was her pride.\u00a0 In verse 3, God quotes Tyre as saying, “I am perfect in beauty”.<\/p>\n

What can we learn from this?\u00a0 No matter how powerful, prosperous, popular or beautiful you get, always stay humble.\u00a0 Humility comes before honour, but pride precedes a downfall.<\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, may I always have a humble heart toward You and toward others.\u00a0 May I always have a humble perspective about myself, knowing that it’s not about me.\u00a0 It’s about You.\u00a0 In Jesus’ name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
