Today\u2019s passage is Ezekiel 27:25-36.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Ezekiel 27:25-36 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong>
\n25\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“‘The ships of Tarshish serve\u00a0as carriers for your wares.\u00a0You are filled with heavy cargo\u00a0in the heart of the sea.
\n26\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Your oarsmen take you\u00a0out to the high seas.\u00a0But the east wind will break you to pieces\u00a0in the heart of the sea.
\n27\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Your wealth, merchandise and wares,\u00a0your mariners, seamen and shipwrights,\u00a0your merchants and all your soldiers,\u00a0and everyone else on board\u00a0will sink into the heart of the sea\u00a0on the day of your shipwreck.
\n28\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The shorelands will quake\u00a0when your seamen cry out.
\n29\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0All who handle the oars\u00a0will abandon their ships;\u00a0the mariners and all the seamen\u00a0will stand on the shore.
\n30\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They will raise their voice\u00a0and cry bitterly over you;\u00a0they will sprinkle dust on their heads\u00a0and roll in ashes.
\n31\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They will shave their heads because of you\u00a0and will put on sackcloth.\u00a0They will weep over you with anguish of soul\u00a0and with bitter mourning.
\n32\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0As they wail and mourn over you,\u00a0they will take up a lament concerning you:\u00a0“Who was ever silenced like Tyre,\u00a0surrounded by the sea?”
\n33\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When your merchandise went out on the seas,\u00a0you satisfied many nations;\u00a0with your great wealth and your wares\u00a0you enriched the kings of the earth.
\n34\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now you are shattered by the sea\u00a0in the depths of the waters;\u00a0your wares and all your company\u00a0have gone down with you.
\n35\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0All who live in the coastlands\u00a0are appalled at you;\u00a0their kings shudder with horror\u00a0and their faces are distorted with fear.
\n36\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The merchants among the nations hiss at you;\u00a0you have come to a horrible end\u00a0and will be no more.'”<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 25-36:\u00a0 Earlier in verses 8-11 we saw how the best and the brighest of sailors, oarsmen and soldiers all flocked to Tyre to work and to help run Tyre’s impressive ships and military.\u00a0 However, here in these verses we see that not even the best and the brightest among people could match the power of the Lord (v27-31).\u00a0 In verses 32-36 we see how public opinion about Tyre will change from raving about the city to mourning when thinking about the city.<\/p>\n

What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Fame, wealth and power can be here today and gone tomorrow.\u00a0 So don’t put your hope in them.\u00a0 Put your hope in God, the One sure thing who will never leave you or forsake you.<\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, You are the one sure thing who will never leave us or forsake us.\u00a0 So may I not put my hope in people, power, wealth or fame, which are uncertain.\u00a0 Instead may I place my hope in You alone, my one sure thing.\u00a0 In Jesus’ name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n
