Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.<br \/>\n<sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He also told them this parable: &#8220;Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?<br \/>\n<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.<br \/>\n<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother&#8217;s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?<br \/>\n<sup>42\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0How can you say to your brother, &#8216;Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,&#8217; when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother&#8217;s eye.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 37-42:\u00a0 These verses warn us against being \u201cjudgment-happy\u201d people (i.e. people who are quick to judge others without giving it much thought).\u00a0 Notice how Jesus connects being judgment-happy with lacking vision.\u00a0 Judgment-happy people tend not to have a clear or accurate view of others or themselves.\u00a0 Judgment-happy people tend to forget the mercy and grace God has shown them.\u00a0 Judgment-happy people tend to forget that they themselves will be subject to judgment for their words.\u00a0 Judgment-happy people will not help or lead others well (\u201cCan a blind man lead a blind man?\u201d) (v39).<\/p>\n<p>Because Jesus says, \u201cDo not judge, and you will not be judged\u201d (v37), I encourage you not to be too quick to judge others.\u00a0 Before you judge others, take a look at yourself first.\u00a0 Temper your judgment of others with compassion and mercy, knowing that \u201cwith the measure you use, it will be measured to you.\u201d (v38)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 6:43-45 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>43\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.<br \/>\n<sup>44\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.<br \/>\n<sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 43-45:\u00a0 When considering whether a person\u2019s advice or teachings are worth following, one of the factors you need to consider is: \u201cWhat kind of fruit has this person born?\u201d\u00a0 Consider the quality of that person\u2019s life, character and the results of their work before you follow their teachings.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 6:46-49 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Why do you call me, &#8216;Lord, Lord,&#8217; and do not do what I say?<br \/>\n<sup>47\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.<br \/>\n<sup>48\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.<br \/>\n<sup>49\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 46-49:\u00a0 After telling us to consider the fruit of a person\u2019s life before following their teachings, Jesus then tells of the great fruit and the huge, positive impact we experience when we apply his teachings to our lives:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Jesus\u2019 words have this way of touching the deepest parts of our lives.\u00a0 When a person has wrestled with Jesus\u2019 words and allowed Jesus\u2019 words to affect their lives, you can tell that this person is not a superficial person but has \u201cdug down deep\u201d (v48).\u00a0 As a pastor in my life once said, \u201cYou need to dig deep if you want to build high.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">Jesus\u2019 words are like a rock, a firm foundation on which we can build strong, solid, blessed lives.\u00a0 Build your life on the rock of God\u2019s Word and you\u2019ll find that, when storms come, you won\u2019t be destroyed but will stay standing (v48).\u00a0 On the other hand, when we hear Jesus\u2019 words but do not obey them, it\u2019s the same as someone whose house has no foundation.\u00a0 It will be easily destroyed when storms come, whether in this life or in eternity (v49).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Father, I pray I would not be so quick to judge others, but that I would take a good look at myself first and temper my judgments with compassion and mercy.\u00a0 \u00a0Thank You for giving me Your Word on which I can build my life and have a firm and deep foundation that is stronger than any storm.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Luke 6:37-49.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Luke 6:37-42 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n37\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;Do not judge, and you will not be judged.
