As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 41-42:\u00a0 Why would God allow a 12 year old girl to go through such suffering?\u00a0 Those who believe in the law of Karma would say, \u201cIt\u2019s her fault.\u00a0\u00a0 She must have done something bad in this life or in her previous life.\u201d\u00a0 New age proponents would say, \u201cThere is no such thing as evil or anything negative here.\u00a0 This suffering is simply\u00a0<em>maya<\/em>, an illusion.\u201d\u00a0 Atheists would say, \u201cThere is no God because how can there be a good, loving God if suffering and evil exist?\u201d\u00a0 But the Christian response is this, \u201cEvil and suffering are real, but God is real too, and whenever God allows suffering, it is not because God is not there or doesn\u2019t care, but ultimately because God has a greater purpose in mind and a greater story He is writing in and through our lives.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ll get to see that greater purpose and story unfold in just a little while.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 8:43-44 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>43\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.<br \/>\n<sup>44\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 43-44:\u00a0 This woman realized that she was desperate because no doctor she consulted could heal her.\u00a0 That\u2019s when she literally reached out for Jesus and experienced Jesus healing her.\u00a0 May you and I always remember that we are hopeless and helpless without Jesus, that we need Jesus more than we even know.\u00a0 It is in this posture of humility and hunger for God that we will experience God\u2019s power.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 8:45-48 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Who touched me?&#8221; Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, &#8220;Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Jesus said, &#8220;Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>47\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.<br \/>\n<sup>48\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then he said to her, &#8220;Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 45-48:\u00a0 I believe Jesus already knew the answer to his question \u201cWho touched me?\u201d before he even asked it.\u00a0 He just wanted the woman to acknowledge it herself.\u00a0 So \u201cin the presence of all the people\u201d (v47), she tells her story.\u00a0 When God does a great thing in your life, very often it\u2019s not just for you, but it\u2019s to bless and encourage others too.\u00a0 So be willing to share with others what God has done in your life.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 8:49-50 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>49\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. &#8220;Your daughter is dead,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Don&#8217;t bother the teacher any more.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>50\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, &#8220;Don&#8217;t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 49-50:\u00a0 In Luke 7:50 Jesus told the woman who poured perfume on his feet, \u201cYour faith has saved you. Go in peace.\u201d\u00a0 In Luke 8:48 Jesus tells the woman who was healed of her disease, \u201cYour faith has healed you.\u00a0 Go in peace.\u201d\u00a0 Now Jesus tells Jairus, \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid; just believe and she will be healed.\u201d\u00a0 What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Faith is the key we need to access to God\u2019s saving and healing power in our lives.\u00a0 Believe in Jesus, trust in His Word, rely on his power, and you will experience Him.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 8:51-55 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>51\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child&#8217;s father and mother.<br \/>\n<sup>52\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. &#8220;Stop wailing,&#8221; Jesus said. &#8220;She is not dead but asleep.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>53\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.<br \/>\n<sup>54\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But he took her by the hand and said, &#8220;My child, get up!&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>55\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 51-55:\u00a0 Notice that Jesus did not let anyone go in with him to see Jairus\u2019 daughter except Peter, John and James, and the girl\u2019s parents.\u00a0 I believe there is a lesson here for us:\u00a0 In your most difficult and pressure-filled situations, it matters who you surround yourself with and whom you allow to influence your thoughts.\u00a0 Just as God likes to work in an atmosphere of faith and uses people with faith, surround yourself with people who have a faith-filled, hopeful and positive outlook on life.\u00a0 Be careful not to be too influenced by those who habitually speak negative, faithless, and hopeless words.\u00a0 Like Jesus did here, sometimes you need to shut the door temporarily on those who speak without faith, so that you won\u2019t be distracted or discouraged by their lack of faith.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 8:56 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>56\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verse 56:\u00a0 Why did Jesus order the girl\u2019s parents not to tell anyone what had happened?\u00a0 Why would Jesus go out of his way to make the bleeding woman share her story and then tell Jairus and his wife not to say anything about how Jesus raised their daughter back to life?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know for sure.\u00a0 It could be that in this case Jesus was protecting the girl and her parents, not wanting them to receive any unhealthy attention from outsiders.\u00a0 Sometimes \u2013 not all the time, but sometimes \u2013 God does good things in our lives which are just between us and God, just like how the apostle Paul received an incredible vision but God told him not to tell but to keep it to himself (2 Corinthians 12:4).\u00a0 It goes to show that God doesn\u2019t just perform miracles and exercise His power to show off.\u00a0 God does miracles out of genuine love and compassion for those who are suffering.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lord Jesus, thank You that nothing is impossible for You.\u00a0 Holy Spirit I need You and I welcome You into my life.\u00a0 Do everything that You want to do in me.\u00a0 May I have faith to believe in You even when things seem hopeless, knowing that You are writing a greater story than anything I could write.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Luke 8:40-56.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Luke 8:40 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n40\u00a0\u00a0Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.<\/p>\n<p>On verse 40:\u00a0 In the verses just before this the people of the Garasenes rejected Jesus and told him to go away.\u00a0 Here another crowd is expecting him and welcoming him.\u00a0 Likewise, we too need to choose: will we be among those who reject Jesus and push him away, or will we welcome Jesus into our lives?<\/p>\n<p>Luke 8:41-42 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n41\u00a0\u00a0Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus&#8217; feet, pleading with him to come to his house<br \/>\n42\u00a0\u00a0because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.
