{"id":11736,"date":"2020-09-29T20:00:43","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T03:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/luke_12_13-21-copy\/"},"modified":"2020-09-27T15:56:53","modified_gmt":"2020-09-27T22:56:53","slug":"luke_12_22-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/luke_12_22-34\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Reasons You Don\u2019t Need to Worry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Luke 12:22-34\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+12%3A22-34&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11738 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/200930.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/200930.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/200930-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/200930-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Luke 12:22-34.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:22-23 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Jesus said to his disciples: &#8220;Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 22-23:\u00a0\u00a0God gave us life not just so that we could eat.\u00a0\u00a0God gave us a body not just so that we fret about clothing it.\u00a0\u00a0God gave you life and a body so that you would live for a purpose that is much greater than material things alone, that you would know God and have a loving relationship with Him that spills over into the way you live life and love people.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:24-26 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 24-26:\u00a0\u00a0Here we learn the first reason why we shouldn\u2019t worry: because worry is unproductive.\u00a0\u00a0As Jesus says, \u201cWho of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?\u201d (v25) Worrying never adds; it only takes away.\u00a0\u00a0Worry takes away our energy, our peace, our joy, and our worship.\u00a0\u00a0When we worry, we\u2019re hopelessly trying to play God, concerning ourselves with things we can\u2019t control, and frustrating ourselves in the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:27-28 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 27-28:\u00a0\u00a0Here we learn the second reason why we shouldn\u2019t worry: because you have a Heavenly Father who is committed to taking care of you.\u00a0\u00a0If God takes good care of lesser things like ravens (v24) and lilies (v27, which Jesus calls \u201cthe grass of the field\u201d), how much more will God make sure you are well taken care of too.\u00a0\u00a0So trust your Heavenly Father.\u00a0\u00a0When we worry, we sin against God because we\u2019re refusing to trust in God to take care of our needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:29-32 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.<\/em><br \/>\n<em><sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 29-32:\u00a0\u00a0Here we learn a third reason why we shouldn\u2019t worry: because God has given us a much better way to live than to worry.\u00a0\u00a0It is here that we find one of the most important and powerful promises in all the Bible: \u201cBut seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well\u201d (Luke 12:31), or as Matthew 6:33 puts it, \u201cSeek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0In other words,\u00a0<strong>when we truly put God first, He adds to us everything we need<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve experienced the power of this promise over and over (and over and over!) through different chapters and areas of my life.\u00a0\u00a0When I choose to prioritize my GAME time with God no matter what, when I try to make decisions that I think will honour God first before I do anything else, when I plan my day and make decisions on the basis of \u201cseek first the kingdom of God\u201d, I find that God consistently gives me everything I need \u2013 whether it\u2019s in time management, career planning, finances, relationships or anything else.\u00a0\u00a0If you build your life on this promise, you will be so blessed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:33 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 33:\u00a0\u00a0What does it mean to \u201cprovide purses for yourselves that will not wear out\u201d?\u00a0\u00a0It means that rather than trying to establish your own kingdom on earth which will not last, live for God\u2019s kingdom that lasts forever.\u00a0Whenever you do things on earth that please God, you\u2019re storing up treasure for yourself in heaven that will never be exhausted or taken away from you.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 12:34 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 34:\u00a0\u00a0What we treasure the most is where our heart is.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus tells us to treat God\u2019s kingdom in heaven as our biggest treasure, to chase God\u2019s kingdom even while we live on this earth.<\/p>\n<p><em>Thank You Father for making us not to be worriers in this world, but warriors in Your kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0I proclaim that You are my Heavenly Father who loves me and who is committed to taken care of me.
