Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 12-14:\u00a0\u00a0When you serve others, don\u2019t just serve those from whom you think you can get something back in return.\u00a0\u00a0Serve those who can\u2019t repay you, and in so doing you store up treasure for yourself from heaven.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Luke 14:15-24 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, &#8220;Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Jesus replied: &#8220;A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, &#8216;Come, for everything is now ready.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, &#8216;I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Another said, &#8216;I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I&#8217;m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Still another said, &#8216;I just got married, so I can&#8217;t come.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, &#8216;Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;&#8216;Sir,&#8217; the servant said, &#8216;what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Then the master told his servant, &#8216;Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.'&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 15-24:\u00a0\u00a0What is the point of this famous parable from Jesus?\u00a0\u00a0There is no greater blessing than to \u201ceat at the feast in the kingdom of God\u201d (that is, to be saved and to be a part of God\u2019s kingdom).\u00a0\u00a0Yet receiving this blessing is not a priority for many people.\u00a0\u00a0That\u2019s why in Jesus\u2019 parable, different characters are invited to the banquet but make excuses for not going.\u00a0\u00a0These characters represent people who are caught up in the small things of life such that they miss God\u2019s calling on their lives.\u00a0\u00a0They end up forfeiting the greatest blessing because they were too caught up in little things that didn\u2019t matter.\u00a0\u00a0Still, God wants His house to be full and keeps inviting people to come until His house is full.<\/p>\n<p>Given the context of this passage it is possible that in Jesus\u2019 parable the ones who were invited first but who didn\u2019t attend represent those Jews who rejected Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0Those who are invited later in Jesus\u2019 parable represent the Gentiles, who are invited and welcomed to the banquet after the Jews\u2019 have rejected Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>All of us have been invited to take part in the feast that is God\u2019s kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0May we not ignore or decline God\u2019s invitation because we were so caught up in less important things.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting me to Your banquet table and to be a part of Your kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0May I not ignore or decline Your invitation because I was too caught up in smaller things that don\u2019t matter nearly as much.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Luke 14:12-24.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Luke 14:12-14 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n12\u00a0\u00a0Then Jesus said to his host, &#8220;When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.\u00a0<br \/>\n13\u00a0\u00a0But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,\u00a0<br \/>\n14\u00a0\u00a0and you will be blessed.
