{"id":12350,"date":"2020-11-05T20:00:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T03:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/luke_21_20-28-copy\/"},"modified":"2020-11-01T17:02:22","modified_gmt":"2020-11-02T00:02:22","slug":"luke_21_29-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/luke_21_29-38\/","title":{"rendered":"Be Ready for Jesus and Guard Your Mountain Times with God"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Luke 21:29-38 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+21%3A29-38&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12352 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/201106.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/201106.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/201106-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Luke 21:29-38. \u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 21:29-36 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n29 \u00a0He told them this parable: &#8220;Look at the fig tree and all the trees.<br \/>\n30 \u00a0When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.<br \/>\n31 \u00a0Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.<br \/>\n32 \u00a0&#8220;I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.<br \/>\n33 \u00a0Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.<br \/>\n34 \u00a0&#8220;Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.<br \/>\n35 \u00a0For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth.<br \/>\n36 \u00a0Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to\u00a0<\/em><em>happen,<\/em><em>\u00a0and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 29-36: Though we don\u2019t know when exactly Jesus is returning, we know that he is returning soon (v29-31), that it will be an event no one will miss (v35) and that we want to be ready at all times. Assuming that \u201cthis generation\u201d in verse 32 means not just Jesus\u2019 disciples 2000 years ago but also includes us and future believers as well,\u00a0<strong>how do we get ready for Jesus\u2019 return? We do so by hanging on to Jesus\u2019 words, which \u201cwill never pass away\u201d (v33). We also do so by being careful not to let worry and wasteful living weigh down our hearts (v34).\u00a0Instead, we will focus on loving God, loving people, and living out His purposes for our lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Luke 21:37-38 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n37 \u00a0Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives,<br \/>\n38 \u00a0and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 37-38: At the height of Jesus\u2019 busyness and popularity, Jesus would consistently withdraw each evening to the Mount of Olives. We too need to protect our mountain times with God, especially in times when we are especially busy and feel the pressure.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lord Jesus, though I don\u2019t know\u00a0<\/em><em>when,<\/em><em>\u00a0I believe You are returning soon. I pray that I would be ready for that day. \u00a0May my life not be weighed down by worry and wasteful living.\u00a0<\/em><em>Instead<\/em><em>\u00a0may I focus on loving You, loving people and living out Your purposes for my life. Please help me to guard my mountain times with You so that I can love You and those around me well.
