Be strong and courageous. This is what the\u00a0LORD\u00a0will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 22-25:\u00a0\u00a0Joshua bring out the five Amorite kings who were hiding in the cave and in the presence of all the Israelite men he allows his army commanders to place their feet on the necks of these kings.\u00a0\u00a0In doing so, Joshua was sharing his honour, authority and power with his army commanders.\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?<\/p>\n<p><strong>When you experience victory or success in life, be sure not to hoard all the credit for yourself, but share the honour and credit<\/strong>\u00a0with those who have worked hard alongside you and helped you to get you to where you are.<\/p>\n<p>Also,\u00a0<strong>just as Joshua let his army commanders stand on their enemy\u2019s necks, so Jesus does the same for us<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus defeated Satan and, since we are part of Jesus\u2019 army, Jesus shares his victory, authority, and honour with us.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Joshua 10:26-27 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Joshua struck and killed the kings and hung them on five trees, and they were left hanging on the trees until evening.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0At sunset Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. At the mouth of the cave they placed large rocks, which are there to this day.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 26-27: The dead bodies of these Amorite kings are hung on a pole for all to see.\u00a0\u00a0They are then thrown into a cave with large stones placed in front of it. Verse 27 says that the stones \u201care there to this day\u201d. Similarly, about 1,400 years later, our king Jesus\u2019 dead body hung on a pole for all to see. Jesus was then thrown into a cave with a large stone placed in front of it. The big difference though is that, in the case of our king Jesus, the large stone in front of his tomb didn\u2019t remain. No, the stone was rolled away and our resurrected king walked out of the cave alive.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus is a king like no other.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Joshua 10:28-32 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0That day Joshua took Makkedah. He put the city and its king to the sword and totally destroyed everyone in it. He left no survivors. And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Makkedah to Libnah and attacked it.<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0also gave that city and its king into Israel&#8217;s hand. The city and everyone in it Joshua put to the sword. He left no survivors there. And he did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Libnah to Lachish; he took up positions against it and attacked it.<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0handed Lachish over to Israel, and Joshua took it on the second day.
