So Caleb gives her the upper and lower springs (v18-19).

What can we learn from this? A big reason reason Caleb and his family were extraordinarily blessed is because they were not afraid to take initiative and ask. Here we have three instances where Caleb or a member of Caleb’s family is bold and takes initiative to ask for something big. In each case, they get what they asked for.

I love the faith, initiative and boldness Caleb, Caleb’s brother Othniel and Caleb’s daughter Aksah display. To me it’s a reminder that God loves to bless people who take initiative, who move in faith and who are not afraid to dream about, ask for and fight for something big.

Like Caleb and his family, may we dream big, ask big and be willing to fight for something big. May faith, initiative and confidence typify the way we approach God as well. As Hebrews 4:16 says: “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

So I encourage you today to ask God for something big. Don’t be afraid to dream big, for God loves to bless those who come to Him with faith.

Heavenly Father, like Caleb and his family, may I not be afraid to take initiative, to move in faith and to ask for big things from You and from those who have the power to help me. Today I ask You for [name something big that you truly want, something you believe God wants you to ask Him for. Do it with faith.]. Thank You that You are with me and will bless me.
