Today\u2019s passage is Joshua 15:45-63.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Joshua 15:45-63 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
\n45\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Ekron, with its surrounding settlements and villages;
\n46\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0west of Ekron, all that were in the vicinity of Ashdod, together with their villages;
\n47\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Ashdod, its surrounding settlements and villages; and Gaza, its settlements and villages, as far as the Wadi of Egypt and the coastline of the Great Sea.
\n48\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In the hill country: Shamir, Jattir, Socoh,
\n49\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Dannah, Kiriath Sannah (that is, Debir),
\n50\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim,
\n51\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Goshen, Holon and Giloh–eleven towns and their villages.
\n52\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Arab, Dumah, Eshan,
\n53\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Janim, Beth Tappuah, Aphekah,
\n54\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Humtah, Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) and Zior–nine towns and their villages.
\n55\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,
\n56\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,
\n57\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Kain, Gibeah and Timnah–ten towns and their villages.
\n58\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Halhul, Beth Zur, Gedor,
\n59\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Maarath, Beth Anoth and Eltekon–six towns and their villages.
\n60\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim) and Rabbah–two towns and their villages.
\n61\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In the desert: Beth Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
\n62\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Nibshan, the City of Salt and En Gedi–six towns and their villages.
\n63\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 45-63:\u00a0\u00a0These verses conclude the list of towns and villages given to the tribe of Judah.\u00a0\u00a0When I read this list the following things jump out at me:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ekron, Ashdod and Gaza (v45-47) were all cities occupied by the Philistines (see Joshua 13;3), but they are allotted here to Judah.\u00a0\u00a0Judah would need to go in and take over these cities.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Jerusalem was one of the cities that was allotted to Judah.\u00a0\u00a0But notice what\u00a0\u00a0verse 63 says: \u201cJudah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Jerusalem would remain under Jebusite control until centuries later (in approximately 1,000 B.C.) King David would arrive and capture Jerusalem from the Jebusites, as detailed in 2 Samuel 5:6-10.<\/p>\n

What can we learn from these two points?\u00a0\u00a0There are some things that God has given to His people to occupy and control that are currently in the control of our enemy, Satan.\u00a0\u00a0Part of stepping into our God-given destiny is to go in Jesus\u2019 name and wrest control away from Satan and let Jesus take over those things.\u00a0\u00a0Is there something in your life, your home or your city that you know belongs to God but that the enemy Satan has been controlling or occupying so far?\u00a0\u00a0God\u2019s peace, joy and strength will fill your life, home and city more when you let Jesus take over that area.<\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, please help me to see if there is any area in my life, home or city that belongs to You but is currently being occupied or controlled by the enemy Satan.\u00a0\u00a0Please give me courage and wisdom to know how to go in Jesus\u2019 name and take that area over and let Jesus take control over that area.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
