{"id":14384,"date":"2021-02-25T21:00:59","date_gmt":"2021-02-26T04:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/john_9_1-12-copy\/"},"modified":"2021-02-21T17:18:53","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T00:18:53","slug":"john_9_13-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/john_9_13-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Not Afraid to Identify with Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>John 9:13-23 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+9%3A13-23&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14386 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/21-0226.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/21-0226.png 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/21-0226-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is John 9:13-23.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John 9:13-16 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man&#8217;s eyes was a Sabbath.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. &#8220;He put mud on my eyes,&#8221; the man replied, &#8220;and I washed, and now I see.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Some of the Pharisees said, &#8220;This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.&#8221; But others asked, &#8220;How can a sinner do such miraculous signs?&#8221; So they were divided.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 13-16:\u00a0\u00a0In response to Jesus giving sight to a blind man on the Sabbath day, some Pharisees fixate on their little rules \u2013 how Jesus healing on the Sabbath was a violation of their Sabbath day rules \u2013 all the while missing what really matters to God.\u00a0\u00a0May we not make the same mistake.\u00a0\u00a0May I not be so focused on my own little man-made system being challenged that I miss the big things that God is doing.<\/p>\n<p>Also, notice that even while some Pharisees kept denying that Jesus was sent by God (v16a), other Pharisees who were starting to believe in Jesus (v16b).\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s a reminder that like Jesus, when you keep on doing good and don\u2019t give up, you may actually win over some of your biggest critics and opponents.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John 9:17-23 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Finally they turned again to the blind man, &#8220;What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.&#8221; The man replied, &#8220;He is a prophet.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The Jews still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man&#8217;s parents.<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Is this your son?&#8221; they asked. &#8220;Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;We know he is our son,&#8221; the parents answered, &#8220;and we know he was born blind.<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don&#8217;t know. Ask him.
