When they got up the next morning, he said, &#8220;Send me on my way to my master.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>55\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But her brother and her mother replied, &#8220;Let the girl remain with us ten days or so; then you may go.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>56\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But he said to them, &#8220;Do not detain me, now that the\u00a0LORD\u00a0has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>57\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then they said, &#8220;Let&#8217;s call the girl and ask her about it.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>58\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So they called Rebekah and asked her, &#8220;Will you go with this man?&#8221; &#8220;I will go,&#8221; she said.<br \/>\n<sup>59\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abraham&#8217;s servant and his men.<br \/>\n<sup>60\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, &#8220;Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the gates of their enemies.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>61\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Rebekah and her maids got ready and mounted their camels and went back with the man. So the servant took Rebekah and left.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 52-61:\u00a0\u00a0Willingly Rebekah leaves her home and goes back with Abraham\u2019s servant to become Isaac\u2019s wife.\u00a0\u00a0To leave her family, friends and homeland and to move to a new land to marry a stranger was no easy task.\u00a0\u00a0Earlier in Genesis 24 we learned that Rebekah had the heart of an excellent and humble servant.\u00a0\u00a0Here in these verses we see that Rebekah was also brave.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s no wonder God used Rebekah to help accomplish God\u2019s plan of building a family of nations through Abraham, a family which would ultimately include you and me and everyone else who places their trust in Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0Nothing in Genesis so far seems to suggests that Rebekah had any idea of God\u2019s bigger plan to use her life in this way.\u00a0\u00a0Most likely, Rebekah was just faithfully taking the next step that she believed God was showing her and had no idea how much God would end up using her decision to become Isaac\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>God loves to use women and men who are humble, willing and brave to accomplish His purposes on this earth.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>We cannot fathom all that God wants to do in and through our lives.\u00a0\u00a0If God were to show us, we would probably freak out.\u00a0\u00a0Instead, God leads us one step at a time.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0Don\u2019t put pressure on yourself to have everything about your future figured out now.\u00a0\u00a0You don\u2019t have to.\u00a0\u00a0With faith just take the next step that God is leading you to take.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Genesis 24:62-67 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>62\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.<br \/>\n<sup>63\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching.<br \/>\n<sup>64\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel<br \/>\n<sup>65\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and asked the servant, &#8220;Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?&#8221; &#8220;He is my master,&#8221; the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.<br \/>\n<sup>66\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then the servant told Isaac all he had done.<br \/>\n<sup>67\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother&#8217;s death.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 62-67:\u00a0\u00a0What an incredible scene that must have been for Isaac and Rebekah to meet for the first time.\u00a0\u00a0Isaac is going to meditate (presumably on the Lord) when he sees camels approaching carrying his chief servant and Rebekah.\u00a0\u00a0There Isaac and Rebekah meet for the first time.\u00a0\u00a0They get married.\u00a0\u00a0Verse 67 adds that Isaac \u201cloved her\u201d and \u201cwas comforted after his mother\u2019s death\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>How does God comfort us when we lose people, especially those who are dear to us?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>In part God comforts us by bringing new people into our lives, people we did not expect whom God would use to provide special comfort, help, healing and joy to us, even while we may still be grieving the loss of someone who is no longer with us.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0If you are grieving and mourning, give yourself the time and space to do that, but\u00a0<strong>as you grieve and mourn, don\u2019t miss the new blessings that God is bringing into your life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, thank You for Rebekah\u2019s courage to leave her family, home country and everything that was familiar to her so that she could become Isaac\u2019s wife.\u00a0\u00a0We are blessed because through her decision Christ would ultimately come into our lives.\u00a0\u00a0Thank You that even in times of grief and mourning, You are bringing new blessings into our lives, which we pray we wouldn\u2019t miss or take for granted.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Genesis 24:52-67.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Genesis 24:52-61 (NIV)<br \/>\n52\u00a0\u00a0When Abraham&#8217;s servant heard what they said, he bowed down to the ground before the\u00a0LORD.<br \/>\n53\u00a0\u00a0Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother.<br \/>\n54\u00a0\u00a0Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank and spent the night there.
