'><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>2 Corinthians 5:11-21 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+5%3A11-21&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17398 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/21-0916.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/21-0916.png 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/21-0916-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is 2 Corinthians 5:11-21.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:11a (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 11a:\u00a0\u00a0In this case, to \u201cknow what it is to fear the Lord\u201d (v11) probably has to do with knowing the fact that one day we will stand before God\u2019s judgment throne and give an account to God for the way we lived our lives (v10).\u00a0\u00a0Because of that, Paul makes it his mission \u201cto persuade men\u201d (v11), that is, to lead people to faith in Christ.\u00a0\u00a0Likewise,\u00a0<strong>since we know that we will give an account to God for how we lived our lives on earth, may we use the time we have on earth to lead others to Jesus<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0For the only thing you can take with you to heaven eventually are those you led to Jesus; everything else stays here.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:11b-12 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0\u2026What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 11b-12:\u00a0\u00a0Paul is saying that God knows Paul\u2019s heart (\u201cwhat we are is plain to God\u201d) and he hopes that the Corinthians also know his heart (v11).\u00a0\u00a0Why is Paul saying this?\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s because Paul has come under criticism as people in Corinth compare Paul, who encounters trial after trial, with so-called \u201csuper apostles\u201d who seem to live much easier lives.\u00a0\u00a0Paul is gently telling the Corinthians not to be deceived by appearances, as if an easy, trouble-free life is a mark of godliness whereas a difficult, trouble-filled life is a mark of inferiority.\u00a0\u00a0The fact is that when you live your life to lead others to Jesus you will encounter struggles and trials that others will not go through.\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When people judge you based on appearances, remember that God looks at the heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:13 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em><br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 13:\u00a0\u00a0To paraphrase Paul here, \u201cIf it seems like we\u2019re crazy, it\u2019s simply because we\u2019re dead set on living for God\u2019s purposes, which can seem strange to people who aren\u2019t used to that.\u00a0\u00a0If we seem normal and relatable to you, it\u2019s because we\u2019re trying to reach you so we can lead you closer to Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:14 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For Christ&#8217;s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 14:\u00a0\u00a0To paraphrase Paul, \u201cWhat motivates us is Christ\u2019s love.\u00a0\u00a0Our lives have been changed by the fact that one man died for everybody else\u2019s sins, and thus we \u2018all died\u2019, that is, sin doesn\u2019t hold onto us anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:15 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 15:\u00a0\u00a0Jesus died for us so that we would live for Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 16-17:\u00a0\u00a0Through faith in Jesus Christ, anyone can be made new, anyone can be forgiven and turned into a child of God (v17).\u00a0\u00a0When we see people through the lens of what God can do, everything changes (v16).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men&#8217;s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0We are therefore Christ&#8217;s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
