{"id":20411,"date":"2022-02-25T22:00:02","date_gmt":"2022-02-26T05:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/exodus-36_8-38-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-02-18T16:42:30","modified_gmt":"2022-02-18T23:42:30","slug":"exodus-37_1-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/exodus-37_1-29\/","title":{"rendered":"The Furniture That Looks Like You"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Exodus 37:\u00a01-29 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus+37%3A1-29&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20413 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/22-0226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/22-0226.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/22-0226-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Exodus 37:1-29.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When you begin to understand God&#8217;s calling on your life, you&#8217;ll find that you actually resemble the furniture that Bezalel and his team made for the tabernacle.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>How so?\u00a0 Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Exodus 37:1-9 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood&#8211;two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it.<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He made the atonement cover of pure gold&#8211;two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then he made two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He made one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; at the two ends he made them of one piece with the cover.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The cherubim had their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim faced each other, looking toward the cover.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-9:\u00a0 Here Bezalel makes the ark.\u00a0 Notice the parallels between the ark and our lives today:<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Like the ark which was wooden but covered in gold,\u00a0<strong>we\u2019re wooden, fragile and breakable, but<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>we are covered in something extremely precious, in fact more precious than gold; we\u2019re covered with the blood of Jesus<\/strong>.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Just as the ark contained the two tablets showing the Ten Commandments, so God has written His laws on our hearts such that now,\u00a0<strong>like the ark, we are the depository for the Word of God<\/strong>.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Just as the atonement cover with two cherubim facing one another was called the mercy seat, and was the place where God would meet with the high priest, so\u00a0<strong>it is by God\u2019s mercy that through Jesus Christ\u2019s blood covering our lives we can meet with<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Him<\/strong>.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Just as the ark represented the presence of God and was to be carried by the Israelite camp wherever they go, so\u00a0<strong>we were meant to carry God\u2019s presence wherever we go<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Exodus 37:10-16 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They made the table of acacia\u00a0<strong>wood<\/strong>&#8211;two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then they overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding around it.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They also made around it a rim a handbreadth wide and put a gold molding on the rim.<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They cast four gold rings for the table and fastened them to the four corners, where the four legs were.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The rings were put close to the rim to hold the poles used in carrying the table.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0<strong>poles for carrying the table<\/strong>\u00a0were made of acacia wood and were overlaid with gold.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And they made from pure gold the articles for the table&#8211;its plates and dishes and bowls and its pitchers for the pouring out of drink offerings.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 10-16:\u00a0 Like the ark, the table was wooden but overlaid in gold and had the special purpose displaying the 12 loaves of showbread.\u00a0 As believers in Jesus Christ, we are like that table in that we too are fragile and breakable, but we are covered in something incredibly precious, which is the blood of Jesus, and\u00a0<strong>we are also made to display the bread of life, who is Jesus Himself<\/strong>.\u00a0 As Jesus says, \u201cI am the bread of life.\u00a0 He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.\u201d (John 6:35)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Exodus 37:17-24 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They made the lampstand of pure gold and hammered it out, base and shaft; its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms were of one piece with it.<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Six branches extended from the sides of the lampstand&#8211;three on one side and three on the other.<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms were on one branch, three on the next branch and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms.<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0One bud was under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair&#8211;six branches in all.<br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The buds and the branches were all of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They made its seven lamps, as well as its wick trimmers and trays, of pure gold.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They made the lampstand and all its accessories from one talent of pure gold.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 17-24:\u00a0 Unlike the ark and the table which were both wooden but overlaid in gold, the lampstand was made of solid pure gold and carried 7 lamps.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Just as the lampstand was made to hold and shine a light, so you and I were made to let our light shine for God\u2019s glory<\/strong>.\u00a0 As Jesus says in Matthew 5:14-16:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT2)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0\u201cYou are the light of the world\u2014like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.<br \/>\nLike the lampstand, no matter where you go, may you shine your light for Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Exodus 37:25-28 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They made the altar of incense out of acacia wood.
