But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-15:\u00a0 Instead of asking for wealth or honor, Solomon asks for a wise and discerning heart so that he can govern the people of Israel (v.9).\u00a0 The fact that in verse 9 Solomon says, &#8220;For who is able to govern this great people of\u00a0<em>yours<\/em>?&#8221; shows that at this stage Solomon did not see the people of Israel as his own, but God&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>God was pleased with Solomon&#8217;s attitude, how Solomon wanted to do what was right and how he wanted to seek God&#8217;s kingdom first.\u00a0 God decides to bless Solomon with even more wealth and honor personally.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0<strong>Rather than seeing what you have in life as belonging to you, see them as belonging to God.<\/strong>\u00a0 That includes your time, your body, your family, your talents, your relationships, everything you have.\u00a0 God has entrusted all these to you temporarily to manage for His glory.\u00a0 As Pastor Rick Warren says, &#8220;What we think we own is really on loan&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>When we choose to have this kind of attitude, we won&#8217;t live as selfishly; rather we&#8217;ll see everything we have in life as a way to give God glory.\u00a0 And when we seek God&#8217;s kingdom first, God really does bless us with everything we need and more.<\/p>\n<p>2. If there&#8217;s one thing worth emulating from Solomon&#8217;s life, it&#8217;s how Solomon asked God for wisdom.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a prayer I find myself praying pretty much every day: &#8220;God give me wisdom&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Are you in need of a wise and discerning heart?\u00a0 Ask God for it today.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>As James 1:5-6 says:<\/p>\n<p><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me today that everything I have in life is really on loan from You to me.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t own it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all Yours and You&#8217;ve entrusted them to me to manage\u00a0<\/em><em>temporarily\u00a0<\/em><em>for Your glory.\u00a0 So like Solomon I pray for a wise and discerning heart, that I may know how to govern what You have placed in my care, that I would know right from wrong and be a good manager of what You have given me.\u00a0 Thank You that when I seek Your kingdom first You will add everything I need and so much more.\u00a0 In Jesus&#8217; name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s passage is 1 Kings 3:1-15.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s go!<\/p>\n<p>1 Kings 3:7-9 (NIV)\u00a0<br \/>\n7\u00a0&#8220;Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David.
