But all your able-bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of your brother Israelites.<br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0However, your wives, your children and your livestock (I know you have much livestock) may stay in the towns I have given you,<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0until the\u00a0LORD\u00a0gives rest to your brothers as he has to you, and they too have taken over the land that the\u00a0LORD\u00a0your God is giving them, across the Jordan. After that, each of you may go back to the possession I have given you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 18-20:\u00a0 Here Moses commands the fighting Israelite men to fight for one another and to make sure each Israelite tribe gets its land before any Israelite fighting man could go back and enjoy his own land.\u00a0 Moses was challenging every Israelite fighting man to put the team\u2019s interests ahead of his own individual interests.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Great teams achieve great things when each member puts the interests of the team ahead of their own.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Deuteronomy 3:21-22 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0At that time I commanded Joshua: &#8220;You have seen with your own eyes all that the\u00a0LORD\u00a0your God has done to these two kings. The\u00a0LORD\u00a0will do the same to all the kingdoms over there where you are going.<br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do not be afraid of them; the\u00a0LORD\u00a0your God himself will fight for you.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 21-22:<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Joshua, who is slated to succeed Moses as Israel\u2019s top leader, looks ahead to the massive task of conquering the entire Promised Land.\u00a0 Moses encourages Joshua, telling him that just as Joshua saw with his own eyes God fighting for Israel when Moses was leading them, so God would continue to fight for Israel when Joshua was leading them.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When you&#8217;re facing a problem far bigger than you can solve by yourself, there is a promise from God&#8217;s Word that you can hang on to: \u00a0God will fight for you.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0It&#8217;s a promise that God would give to the Israelites repeatedly as they left Egypt and headed for the Promised Land.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Exodus 14:14 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>The LORD will\u00a0<\/em><strong>fight for you<\/strong><em>; you need only to be still.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Deuteronomy<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a01:30 (NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>The LORD your God, who is going before you, will\u00a0<\/em><strong>fight for you<\/strong><em>, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes,\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy<\/strong><strong>\u00a020:4 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to\u00a0<\/em><strong>fight for you<\/strong><em>\u00a0against your enemies to give you victory.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>What does it mean for God to fight for you? It means that God will work out all the things that you cannot control.\u00a0 He will work it out for your good and for His glory. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So when you&#8217;re facing a problem far greater than your ability to solve it, let God fight for you.<\/p>\n<p>The reason why some people don&#8217;t experience God fighting for them is because they get in God&#8217;s way and try to take God&#8217;s place.\u00a0 They do so by worrying, by being manipulative, by not trusting God, or by not waiting for Him to work things out.\u00a0 Instead they go ahead of God and try to work things out themselves, making things worse in the process.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t handcuff God and keep Him from fighting for you.\u00a0 Trust Him.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Once you&#8217;ve given your best and done everything you reasonably can in your power, leave the rest to God.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Let Him fight for you.\u00a0 Let Him show you that if you just trust in Him, He will do far more and far better than you could do fighting by yourself.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Deuteronomy 3:23-29 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0At that time I pleaded with the\u00a0LORD:<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;O Sovereign\u00a0LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan&#8211;that fine hill country and Lebanon.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But because of you the\u00a0LORD\u00a0was angry with me and would not listen to me. &#8220;That is enough,&#8221; the\u00a0LORD\u00a0said. &#8220;Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 23-29:\u00a0 Moses pleaded with God to let him cross the Jordan River and see the promised land that God was leading the Israelites to.\u00a0 However, God would not grant his request.\u00a0 God would only let him see it from afar.\u00a0 Why wouldn\u2019t God grant Moses his request?\u00a0 After all that Moses had done for Israel, was God being cruel?\u00a0 We\u2019ll take up this question in Deuteronomy 34.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lord God, with those issues that are beyond my ability to solve, thank You that You are here to fight for me.\u00a0 Just as You fought for my salvation on the cross, thank You that You continue to fight for me to this day.\u00a0 Because You are the champion in my corner, my defender, my shield, and my army, I will not be afraid.\u00a0 The Lord God will fight for me.\u00a0 In Jesus&#8217; name I pray, AMEN.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi\u00a0 GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Deuteronomy 3:18-29.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Deuteronomy 3:18-20 (NIV)<br \/>\n18\u00a0\u00a0I commanded you at that time: &#8220;The\u00a0LORD\u00a0your God has given you this land to take possession of it.
