{"id":22733,"date":"2022-08-12T22:00:17","date_gmt":"2022-08-13T05:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/deuteronomy31_14-30-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-07-26T15:48:52","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T22:48:52","slug":"deuteronomy32_1-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/deuteronomy32_1-12\/","title":{"rendered":"You are the Apple of God\u2019s Eye"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Deuteronomy\u00a0 32:1-12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Deuteronomy+32%3A1-12&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22735 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/22-0813.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/22-0813.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/22-0813-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Deuteronomy 32:1-12.\u00a0 As promised we\u2019ll also look at Deuteronomy 31:30 as well.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 31:30 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And Moses recited the words of this song from beginning to end in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 30:\u00a0 Moses is known more as a lawgiver than a songwriter.\u00a0 Still, there are two songs that Moses is credited with in the Bible.\u00a0 One of them is here.\u00a0 Moses\u2019 purpose in presenting this song is to give praise to God as well as to teach the current generation of Israelites some important truths.\u00a0 Let\u2019s take a look in the verses that follow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 32:1-2 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-2: \u00a0Moses prays that the words of this song will be like rain and dew nourishing the ground and the plants that they fall on.\u00a0 Likewise, how can you let the teaching of God&#8217;s Word nourish your heart?\u00a0 By watching the condition of your heart whenever you approach God.\u00a0 For example, I recommend that your GAMEtime not just be a time of reading the Bible or writing down what you learned.\u00a0 Otherwise, your GAMEtime will eventually feel like homework and nothing more. \u00a0 Instead, when you have your time with God, take time to be still in God&#8217;s presence, to lay down Your burdens, and to worship God from your heart.\u00a0 When you do this, you&#8217;ll be so much more ready to receive the teaching of God&#8217;s Word, just like rain falling on new grass and tender plants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I will proclaim the name of the\u00a0LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 3 to 4: \u00a0Like Moses, why don&#8217;t you take a moment to praise the greatness of our God.\u00a0 How?\u00a0 You can recite verses 3 and 4 from your heart.\u00a0 You can sing Him a song.\u00a0 You can play your favourite worship song.\u00a0 (For example,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214&amp;id=205a990cfc&amp;e=b608fe02a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thrivechurch.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D77ec4e1ba0a9c0c7b9605a214%26id%3D205a990cfc%26e%3Db608fe02a2&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1658957793525000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0bPksYU9IabEMkh570ZuWp\">here&#8217;s a link to a worship song based on verses 3 and 4<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s old but still quite beautiful I think.)\u00a0Take a moment just to be still in God\u2019s presence.\u00a0 Speak words to thank and praise Him for who He is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 32:5-6 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Is this the way you repay the\u00a0LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 5-6:\u00a0 Moses contrasts the uprightness and greatness of God with the corruption and crookedness of people.\u00a0 When we look into God\u2019s Word, it\u2019s like a window through which we see both God\u2019s greatness and our sinfulness.\u00a0 Yet the good news of God\u2019s Word is that God would make a way for a holy God and sinful people to live together.\u00a0 How?\u00a0 Through Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, paying for our sins so that we can be reconciled to God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 32:7-12 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For the\u00a0LORD&#8217;s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The\u00a0LORD\u00a0alone led him; no foreign god was with him.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 7-12: \u00a0What is verse 8 referring to?\u00a0 Verse 8 is referring to how from the beginning God had a special heart for the people of Israel, such that He assigned boundaries to other nations with the people of Israel in mind.\u00a0 When it came to the people of Israel, verse 9 tells us that God decided that He Himself would watch over Israel and treat Israel with special, personal care.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why verse 9 describes Jacob (another word of Israel) as God&#8217;s &#8220;portion&#8221; and &#8220;allotted inheritance&#8221;.\u00a0 God found Israel when Israel was still in a dry, barren wasteland (v10).\u00a0 He guarded Israel like the apple of His eye (v10).\u00a0 Like an eagle hovering over its young, God shielded and cared for Israel (v10-11), personally giving Israel leadership and guidance (v12).<\/p>\n<p>God did the same with us: when we were lost in a dry and barren wasteland, God found you and me.\u00a0 To this day God personally watches over you and me, shielding us and guiding our way.\u00a0 You are cared for by an awesome God!\u00a0 You are the apple of God\u2019s eye!<\/p>\n<p><em>Heavenly Father, I praise You for being my rock, my God whose works are perfect and whose ways are just.\u00a0 You are a faithful God who does no wrong.\u00a0 You are always upright and just.\u00a0 Thank You for finding me when I was lost.\u00a0 Thank You for calling me the apple of Your eye.
