'><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Romans 10:1-11 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+10%3A1-11&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23234 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0922.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0922.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0922-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Romans 10:1-11.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 10:1 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Brothers, my heart&#8217;s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 1:\u00a0 In Romans 9 Paul was talking about how it is God who elects in advance whom He will save.\u00a0 Yet notice that this does not stop Paul in Romans 10 from praying to God for the Israelites that they may be saved.\u00a0 Why is Paul praying for his fellow Israelites\u2019 salvation when he knows that God has already made a decision about whether or not to save the Israelites?\u00a0 It\u2019s because\u00a0<strong>even though God is sovereign, our choices still matter.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Just because God, who stands outside of time and space, makes choices doesn\u2019t mean that our prayers and our decisions don\u2019t also have a real impact.<\/strong>\u00a0 Don\u2019t let God\u2019s sovereignty be the reason you throw in the towel and say, \u201cWho cares then since God is in control anyway\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Instead<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>let God\u2019s sovereignty be the reason to throw your whole self into living for God\u2019s glory, since God is the judge and only God knows the ultimate outcome of our stories.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 10:2 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 2:\u00a0 It is dangerous to be zealous without knowledge, that is, to be passionate about a set of beliefs without having a firm grip on the reasonableness of those beliefs.\u00a0 For example, think about terrorism, racism, religions which require that you sacrifice your child in the fire in order to have prosperity.\u00a0 These are extreme examples of zeal without knowledge.\u00a0 But there are more ordinary examples too, such as judging someone before you have understood them and gossiping about another person based on rumours.\u00a0 Proverbs 19:2 says, \u201cIt is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.\u201d\u00a0 How do you avoid having zeal without knowledge?\u00a0 Examine the facts carefully before you believe them and talk about them with others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 10:3 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God&#8217;s righteousness.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 3:\u00a0 Each of us has a choice.\u00a0 We can submit to God\u2019s way of attaining righteousness, which is by faith in what He has done and not in what we do.\u00a0 Or we can insist on trying to earn righteousness on our own merit.\u00a0 The former is based in humility and leads to life; the latter is based on pride and leads to a downfall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 10:4 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 4:\u00a0 When Paul says \u201cChrist is the end of the law\u201d, what does he mean?\u00a0 You could say that Christ is the end of the law on two levels.<\/p>\n<p>On one level, living under the law means trusting in your own ability to earn righteousness on your own merit.\u00a0 Believing in Christ and trusting in what He did puts an end to that kind of thinking.\u00a0 \u00a0In this way, Christ is the end of the law.<\/p>\n<p>On another level, Christ is the end of the law in that Jesus Christ fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the law.\u00a0 The only one who perfectly followed God\u2019s law to its end is Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 10:5-10 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: &#8220;The man who does these things will live by them.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But the righteousness that is by faith says: &#8220;Do not say in your heart, &#8216;Who will ascend into heaven?'&#8221; (that is, to bring Christ down)<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;or &#8216;Who will descend into the deep?'&#8221; (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But what does it say? &#8220;The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,&#8221; that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0That if you confess with your mouth, &#8220;Jesus is Lord,&#8221; and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0As the Scripture says, &#8220;Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 5-10:\u00a0 Here Paul is saying that the Law of Moses in the Old Testament illustrates the two different approaches to getting righteousness.\u00a0\u00a0 The first approach \u2013 trying to earn your righteousness by obeying the law \u2013 is illustrated by the idea of \u201cThe man who does these things will live by them\u201d, which is probably a quote from Leviticus 18:5.\u00a0 The second approach \u2013 receiving your righteousness by faith \u2013 is illustrated by Deuteronomy 30:11-14, and is the idea that you don\u2019t need to go up to heaven or cross the sea to get your righteousness;
