{"id":23335,"date":"2022-09-27T22:00:46","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T05:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/romans-11_25-36-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T20:16:24","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T03:16:24","slug":"romans-12_1-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/romans-12_1-8\/","title":{"rendered":"What True Worship Is"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Romans 12:1-8 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+12%3A1-8&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23337 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0928.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0928.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/22-0928-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Romans 12:1-8.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 12:1 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God&#8217;s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God&#8211;this is your spiritual act of worship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Verse 1:\u00a0 \u201c<em>This\u00a0<\/em>is your spiritual act of worship\u201d.\u00a0 What is worship\u00a0<em>really<\/em>?\u00a0 At its heart true worship is not simply singing songs or going to church.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong.\u00a0 God commands us to sing worship songs and go to church regularly as part of a healthy life of worship.\u00a0 However, true worship is bigger than that.\u00a0 It\u2019s about offering your entire life to God as a response to who God is and what God has done.<\/p>\n<p>True worship happens when you surrender your heart, mind and body to God to be used for His purposes and His glory.\u00a0 Worship is an attitude as much as it is an action.\u00a0 So make every moment of your life a moment to worship God.\u00a0 Whatever you do, do it with the goal of wanting to honour and please God.\u00a0 As\u00a01\u00a0Corinthians 10:31 says, &#8220;whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 12:2 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God&#8217;s will is&#8211;his good, pleasing and perfect will.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 2:\u00a0 How do you discover God\u2019s will for your life?\u00a0 Not just by mindlessly doing what everyone else does.\u00a0 Rather you discover God&#8217;s will for your life more and more as you move in true worship and as you let the Word of God renew the way you think and see all of life.\u00a0 As\u00a0Romans\u00a012:2 says, &#8220;Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. \u00a0<em>Then<\/em>\u00a0you will be able to test and approve what God&#8217;s will is &#8211; His good, pleasing and perfect will.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 12:3 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 3:\u00a0 One of the most misguided, prideful, divisive and destructive things we can do is to think of ourselves as better than others and think that we don\u2019t need others.\u00a0 Instead, Paul says that we are to see ourselves not more highly than we ought, but with sober judgment.\u00a0 Humility is seeing yourself for who you are in Christ \u2013 not more and not less.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 12:4-8 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.
