{"id":24188,"date":"2022-11-30T22:00:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T05:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-6_14-29-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-11-15T21:34:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T04:34:27","slug":"mark-6_30-44","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-6_30-44\/","title":{"rendered":"This Bread Still Feeds and Satisfies Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Mark 6:30-44 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+6%3A30-44&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24190 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1201.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1201-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Mark 6:30-44.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:30-32 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, &#8220;Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 30-32:\u00a0 Jesus did not simply use his disciples; he also cared for their well being.\u00a0 That\u2019s why here we see Jesus leading his disciples not only in serving others but also in resting themselves.\u00a0 Jesus sets an example for his team on how to rest and plans for a way that his team can rest together.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Like Jesus, work hard, rest well, and teach others in your care to do the same.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:33-34 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.<br \/>\n<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 33-34:\u00a0 Jesus had planned to rest with his disciples by going to the other side of a lake by themselves.\u00a0 But a crowd runs to the other side of the lake just to find them. Full of compassion for the crowd, Jesus does not shoo them away.\u00a0 Realizing how far these people had come just to see him, Jesus changes plans and decides to teach and serve them.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Jesus\u2019 heart is full of compassion.\u00a0 Also, Jesus was not so set on his pre-made plans that he could not veer from them when special situations called for it.\u00a0 Does this mean that Christian leaders should always allow for anyone and everyone to interrupt their schedule?\u00a0 Not at all.\u00a0 In other places in the Gospels, Jesus would not let his plans be set aside or distracted by other people\u2019s agendas.\u00a0 He would not entrust himself completely to people.\u00a0 In this case, under these special circumstances, Jesus thought the best thing to do was to set aside his original plans to serve this crowd that had come all this way to see him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:35-37 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. &#8220;This is a remote place,&#8221; they said, &#8220;and it&#8217;s already very late.<br \/>\n<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But he answered, &#8220;You give them something to eat.&#8221;\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 35-37:\u00a0 The crowd and the disciples probably expected Jesus to teach and maybe heal some people.\u00a0 But no one expected Jesus to serve this huge crowd a meal.\u00a0 And yet that is what Jesus invites his disciples to do.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Sometimes Jesus will stretch us and challenge us beyond our comfort zone, not to be cruel to us, but to grow us, to stretch our faith, and to let us experience God\u2019s power in a way we haven\u2019t before.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>If you don\u2019t get out of your comfort zone, you will never grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, like Jesus, don\u2019t get stuck in the rut of doing the same thing all the time, but be creative and innovative in the way you serve people.\u00a0 Be willing to try new things.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:37b-41 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>\u2026They said to him, &#8220;That would take eight months of a man&#8217;s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;How many loaves do you have?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;Go and see.&#8221; When they found out, they said, &#8220;Five&#8211;and two fish.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.<br \/>\n<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties.<br \/>\n<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people.
