{"id":24192,"date":"2022-12-01T22:00:51","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T05:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-6_30-44-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-11-15T21:42:22","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T04:42:22","slug":"mark-6_45-56","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-6_45-56\/","title":{"rendered":"He\u2019s Greater than the Storm You\u2019re In"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Mark 6:45-56\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+6%3A45-56&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24194 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1202.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1202-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Mark 6:45-56.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:45-46 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.<br \/>\n<sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 45-46:\u00a0 Here we see Jesus\u2019 heart for his disciples, how he lets them go on ahead of him by boat so that they can get some rest while he dismisses the crowd\u2026OR was Jesus intentionally sending them into a storm to teach them a lesson?\u00a0 Hmm.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, what we do know for sure is that at the end of the day Jesus goes to a mountainside to pray.\u00a0 Jesus knew that the rest he needed most was rest for his soul, so he spends it alone with the Father, the only one who could fully refresh his spirit.\u00a0 Likewise,\u00a0<strong>there is no physical food, no party and no ministry high that can replace being close with the Father.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:47-52 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>47\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land.<br \/>\n<sup>48\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them,<br \/>\n<sup>49\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,<br \/>\n<sup>50\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, &#8220;Take courage! It is I. Don&#8217;t be afraid.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>51\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed,<br \/>\n<sup>52\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 47-52:\u00a0 When you\u2019re in the middle of a storm, God wants you to focus on the One who is greater than the storm.\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>Whatever storm you\u2019re facing today, know that the One who literally stands above the storm is with you and says: \u201cTake courage!\u00a0 It is I.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be afraid.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0And to prove that they didn\u2019t need to be afraid, the moment Jesus climbs into the boat with them, the wind dies down.\u00a0 It\u2019s always better to go through a storm with Jesus than without Him.<\/p>\n<p>Now what about verse 52?\u00a0 What did the disciples not understand about the loaves?\u00a0 What Mark seems to be getting at is that the whole point about the loaves was more than just to feed hungry people; it was to show that Jesus is God, something that the disciples had yet to fully grasp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 6:53-56 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>53\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.<br \/>\n<sup>54\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup>55\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.<br \/>\n<sup>56\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And wherever he went&#8211;into villages, towns or countryside&#8211;they placed the sick in the marketplaces.
