{"id":24358,"date":"2022-12-14T22:00:20","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T05:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-9_14-23-copy\/"},"modified":"2022-11-29T18:14:25","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T01:14:25","slug":"mark-9_24-32","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/mark-9_24-32\/","title":{"rendered":"With Prayer Comes THIS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Mark 9:24-32\u00a0 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+9%3A24-32&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24360 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1215.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1215.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/22-1215-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Mark 9:24-32.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 9:24 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Immediately the boy&#8217;s father exclaimed, &#8220;I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 24:\u00a0 After realizing that the size of his own faith mattered, the boy\u2019s father declares his faith in Jesus and asks Jesus to help him overcome his unbelief.\u00a0 That is a legitimate prayer and request you can make to God: \u201chelp me overcome my unbelief\u201d.\u00a0 When you pray that way, you\u2019re coming to God honestly, humbly and with an open mind.\u00a0 God loves to give grace to those who come before Him with honesty, humility and an open mind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 9:25a (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 25a:\u00a0 Once again we see that\u00a0<strong>Jesus didn\u2019t do miracles for show.\u00a0 He does miracles out of compassion.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0The fact that a crowd was soon approaching seemed to even make Jesus rush the process a little faster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 9:25b-29 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u2026&#8221;You deaf and mute spirit,&#8221; he said, &#8220;I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, &#8220;He&#8217;s dead.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, &#8220;Why couldn&#8217;t we drive it out?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He replied, &#8220;This kind can come out only by prayer.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 25b-29:\u00a0 There are some spiritual battles and demonic forces you fight where commanding an evil spirit to leave in the name of Jesus is enough.\u00a0 But sometimes there will be spiritual battles where you need to pray more if you want to see the victory.\u00a0 That\u2019s what Jesus means when he says, \u201cThis kind can come out only by prayer.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<strong>With prayer comes power.<\/strong>\u00a0 As we like to say at Thrive: much prayer, much power; little prayer, little power; no prayer, no power.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 9:30-32 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were,<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, &#8220;The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.
