Jesus told them, &#8220;for it is written: &#8220;&#8216;I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.&#8217;<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Peter declared, &#8220;Even if all fall away, I will not.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;I tell you the truth,&#8221; Jesus answered, &#8220;today&#8211;yes, tonight&#8211;before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But Peter insisted emphatically, &#8220;Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.&#8221; And all the others said the same.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 26-31:\u00a0 Peter was so sure and passionate about his commitment to Jesus that he acted as if nothing could possibly shake him.\u00a0 Not even Jesus\u2019 Scripture-based prophecy that all the disciples would fall away (v27) seemed to affect Peter\u2019s confidence that he would remain faithful to Jesus till the end.\u00a0 \u201cEven if I have to die with you, I will never disown you\u201d, Peter says in verse 31.\u00a0 But that was more Peter\u2019s own pride speaking.\u00a0 Peter underestimated his own weakness and how on his own, without Jesus\u2019 help, he didn\u2019t stand a chance of hanging onto his faith.\u00a0 Peter wasn\u2019t the only disciple who made this mistake.\u00a0 All the other disciples made the same mistake.\u00a0 Peter was just the most vocal about it.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Be careful not to overestimate your own faith, commitment or ability.\u00a0 No matter how strong we think we are spiritually or otherwise, the fact is that without the grace and mercy of God none of us could stand.\u00a0 So let the realization of that fact keep us humble before God and people.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Jesus, You\u2019re the Only truly strong one.\u00a0 The rest of us are just pretenders compared to You, and any strength we have is only because You supply it.\u00a0 Thank You Jesus that despite all the mistakes I make or could make, Your mercy is greater still.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Mark 14:26-31.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Mark 14:26-31 (NIV)<br \/>\n26\u00a0\u00a0When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.<br \/>\n27\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;You will all fall away,&#8221;
