{"id":25497,"date":"2023-03-09T22:00:25","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T05:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/isaiah-31_1-9-copy\/"},"modified":"2023-02-27T22:14:54","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T05:14:54","slug":"isaiah-32_1-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/isaiah-32_1-20\/","title":{"rendered":"A Shelter from the Wind and the Storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Isaiah 32:1-20 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+32%3A1-20&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25499 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/23-0310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/23-0310.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/23-0310-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Isaiah 32:1-20.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 32:1-8 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0No longer will the fool be called noble nor the scoundrel be highly respected.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the\u00a0LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The scoundrel&#8217;s methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-8:\u00a0 Isaiah predicts the day when a king will reign in righteousness and his princes will reign with him in justice (v1).\u00a0 Because of their righteous, just rule, they will provide refuge and refreshing for the people (v2), the simple and stuttering will find understanding and clarity (v3-4), while scoundrels will be found out (v5).\u00a0 Whereas people suffer under the rule of a fool (v6-7), people will prosper under the rule of this noble king (v8).<\/p>\n<p>What time is Isaiah referring to here?\u00a0 Isaiah is talking about the time when the Messiah will reign in righteousness and justice.\u00a0 This will finally be fulfilled when Jesus comes again and establishes His kingdom.\u00a0 \u00a0But in the meantime, the New Testament describes Jesus as the king who reigns and that we, as His people, get to reign with Him as co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), as princes and princesses in God&#8217;s kingdom. \u00a0<strong>Jesus is our shelter from the wind and our refuge from the storm.\u00a0 When we allow Jesus to reign in and through our lives, we too become shelters from the wind and refuges from the storm for others. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In fact,\u00a0<strong>whenever a person, a family, a church, a team, a company, a city, or a nation allows Jesus to reign in and through them, the result is that they become a refreshing refuge for others, the simple find understanding, and justice reigns.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 32:9-20 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0You women who are so complacent, rise up and listen to me; you daughters who feel secure, hear what I have to say!<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come.<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Tremble, you complacent women; shudder, you daughters who feel secure! Strip off your clothes, put sackcloth around your waists.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vines<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers&#8211; yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0till the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Justice will dwell in the desert and righteousness live in the fertile field.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The fruit of righteousness will be peace;
