The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Not even those who are circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your flesh.<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 11-18: \u00a0As a final word to the churches in Galatia, Paul sums up the main message of his letter: It&#8217;s not circumcision or uncircumcision that justifies me (v13, 15).\u00a0 It is not my own efforts to obey God&#8217;s laws that save me.\u00a0 It&#8217;s only the cross of Jesus Christ that gives me right standing before God (v14) \u2013 \u201cMay I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you&#8217;ve gotten the difference between seeking justification by faith and justification by works.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the main message of\u00a0Galatians\u00a0and indeed it&#8217;s a crucial one for our day.\u00a0 For while not many people are fixated on the issue of circumcision like the churches in Galatia were, there are still billions of people today who think they can get to heaven or have a relationship with God based on their own merit and good works.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between seeking justification by faith and seeking justification by works is really the difference between Christianity and every other religion, philosophy and faith that the world offers.\u00a0 Christianity is about God reaching for people out of love; everything else is a do-it-yourself, &#8220;earn your way to God&#8221; philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>May we never get caught in the Galatian deception of thinking we can earn our way to God.\u00a0 Like Paul, may we never boast in anything except the cross of Jesus Christ, through which we are forgiven of our sins and given a new life.<\/p>\n<p>Praise God!\u00a0 That brings our look at\u00a0Galatians\u00a0to a close.<\/p>\n<p><em>Father, may I never boast except in the cross of Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Galatians 6:11-18.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p>Galatians 6:11-18 (NIV)<br \/>\n11\u00a0\u00a0See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!<br \/>\n12\u00a0\u00a0Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised.
