{"id":26429,"date":"2023-05-22T22:00:29","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T05:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/ephesians-1_1-10-copy\/"},"modified":"2023-05-09T14:35:49","modified_gmt":"2023-05-09T21:35:49","slug":"ephesians-1_11-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/ephesians-1_11-23\/","title":{"rendered":"There is Resurrection Power in You"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Ephesians 1:11-23\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians+1%3A11-23&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26431 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/23-0523.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/23-0523.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/23-0523-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Ephesians 1:11-23.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><strong>11<\/strong><strong>\u00a0(NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>11<\/sup>\u00a0In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse\u00a011: \u00a0Here Paul tells us that God works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.\u00a0 Everything.\u00a0 That includes the biggest mistakes, failures, hurts, disappointments, accidents, tragedies, and heartbreaks we will ever experience.\u00a0 Nothing is a surprise to God.\u00a0 As Pastor Rick Warren says, &#8220;God never wastes a hurt.&#8221; \u00a0He uses it all to accomplish His purpose in this world and in our lives.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong><strong>:12 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 12: \u00a0Speaking of God&#8217;s purpose for your life, here it is: &#8220;that we might be for the praise of His glory&#8221;.\u00a0 In other words, God didn&#8217;t make just so that you could be happy or fulfill\u00a0<em>your\u00a0<\/em>dreams.\u00a0 God made you for the praise of\u00a0<em>His\u00a0<\/em>glory.\u00a0 That is your number one purpose in life: to glorify God.\u00a0 You are not an accident or a mistake.\u00a0 You were made to give God praise and glory with your life.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong><strong>:13 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 13: \u00a0Earlier in verses 3-10 we learned eight parts to your identity.\u00a0 Here in verse 13 we learn two more parts to your identity.<\/p>\n<p>You are\u00a0<em>included<\/em>\u00a0in Christ.\u00a0 That is, you are found in Him and included in His family.\u00a0 Because you are included in Christ, the blessings that Jesus enjoys &#8212; righteousness, peace, joy, the Father&#8217;s love, eternal life, citizenship in heaven, purpose on earth, and membership in His family &#8212; flow to you as well.<\/p>\n<p>You are also\u00a0<em>marked\u00a0<\/em>in Christ with a seal.\u00a0 During my time practicing law, I had a seal that I would use to mark a document.\u00a0 When I placed my seal on that document, people who saw the seal knew that I approved that document in some way.\u00a0 Similarly, when you place your faith in Christ, God placed His seal, His stamp of approval, on you: His Holy Spirit.\u00a0 The fact that God marked you with His Holy Spirit means you are approved by God!\u00a0 Why do you need to live for other people&#8217;s approval when you already have the approval of the One whose opinion matters the most?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong><strong>:14 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God&#8217;s possession&#8211;to the praise of his glory.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 14: \u00a0God gives us His Holy Spirit not just as a seal to show that we have His approval.\u00a0 Even more, He gives us His Holy Spirit as a deposit.\u00a0 A deposit is an amount you pay as a guarantee that you will pay more later.\u00a0 The Holy Spirit is like that in our lives.\u00a0 God gave us His Holy Spirit so that in advance\u00a0we could taste and see that God is good, experience His power and feel His presence.\u00a0 At the same time, when God gave us His Holy Spirit, it was God&#8217;s way of saying, &#8220;The best is yet to come.\u00a0 I guarantee it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong><strong>:15-17 (NIV)\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 15-17: \u00a0What Paul prayed for his church in Ephesus I pray for you, that the Father would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation that you may know Him better and love Him more.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 18: Like Paul prayed for his church, I also pray for you that you would know three things: \u00a0how amazing is the hope we have in Christ, how amazing is the Church you and I are a part of, and how amazing is the power He makes available to you and me.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ephesians 1:19-20 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
