Today\u2019s passage is Philippians 2:1-11.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Philippians 2:1-11 (NIV)<\/strong>
\n1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
\n2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
\n3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
\n4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
\n5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
\n6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
\n7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
\n8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross!
\n9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
\n10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
\n11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 1-11:\u00a0 It is one of the most beautiful and important passages in all of the New Testament, so much so that\u00a0I encourage you to memorize this passage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When you memorize this passage, the Holy Spirit will use it to remind you of some essential truths, including the following:<\/p>\n

1. As Christians we are to be like Christ in our attitude and to put others’ interests (especially the interests of your brothers and sisters in Christ) ahead of our own (v3-5).<\/p>\n

2. Jesus Christ is in very nature God\u00a0(v6). He is fully God.<\/p>\n

3. Jesus Christ also became a human being (v7).\u00a0 He is both fully God and fully man.<\/p>\n

4. Jesus Christ died the most humbling, humiliating and painful death on the cross (v8).<\/p>\n

5. Jesus Christ is now exalted to the highest place (v9).<\/p>\n

6. Jesus’ name is above every name (v9).<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0 Every knee in heaven, on earth and in hell must bow to Jesus’ name (v10).<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 Every tongue will one day acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (v11).<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0 It gives glory to God when we acknowledge who Jesus is (v11).<\/p>\n

So take the time to memorize this passage (verses\u00a01-11).\u00a0 It could be the most important and beneficial thing you do in our time studying\u00a0Philippians.<\/p>\n

Lord Jesus, You were the ultimate servant and now You are highly exalted. Although You are in very nature God, You took on human flesh and made yourself nothing to serve us.\u00a0 You died on the cross and now You are exalted to the highest place with the highest name anyone could ever have.\u00a0 You deserve the highest praise and I worship You!\u00a0 In Jesus’ name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n
