{"id":27924,"date":"2023-09-13T22:00:22","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T05:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/1-timothy-4_1-10-copy\/"},"modified":"2023-08-29T17:19:02","modified_gmt":"2023-08-30T00:19:02","slug":"1-timothy-4_11-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/1-timothy-4_11-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Lead By Your Words and By Your Example"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>1 Timothy 4:11-16 \u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Timothy+4%3A11-16&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-27926 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/23-0914.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/23-0914.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/23-0914-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is\u00a01\u00a0Timothy\u00a04:11-16.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Timothy 4:11-12 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Command and teach these things.<br \/>\n<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Don&#8217;t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 11-12:\u00a0 Some commentators speculate that Timothy had a shy and not so aggressive personality and because of that Paul is encouraging Timothy to step into his role as a pastor with confidence.\u00a0 Whether or not that\u2019s true, verses 11-12 show us that for Paul being an effective pastor and spiritual leader is not just about what you say (v11) but also how you live (v12).\u00a0<strong>Godly leaders don&#8217;t just message people about how to follow Christ; they model it for them too.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0For those around you, may you set an example of what a Christian should be in the way you speak (speech), the way you live (life), the way you treat others (love), the way you trust and believe God&#8217;s Word (faith), and the way you seek to please God with your life (purity).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>1<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>Timothy<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>4<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>:13\u00a0(NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 13: \u00a0<strong>T<\/strong><strong>here is power in the public reading of God&#8217;s Word, and the preaching and teaching of it<\/strong>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s no wonder Paul told\u00a0Timothy\u00a0to devote himself to the reading, preaching and teaching of Scripture.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1 Timothy 4:14-16 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.<br \/>\n<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 14-16: \u00a0Apparently\u00a0Timothy\u00a0was a gifted communicator (v13-14), although commentators speculate that Timothy might have been a little timid.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why Paul tells\u00a0Timothy\u00a0not to neglect the gift God had given him (v14), to give himself wholly to using his gifts (v15), and also to watch his life and what he is teaching (v16).\u00a0 If Timothy would persevere in these matters, Paul says Timothy would &#8220;save both yourself and others&#8221; (v16b); in other words, he would fulfill his destiny and be a blessing to others.<\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from this? \u00a0<strong>Do you want God to use your life in a powerful way?\u00a0 Then develop the gifts God has given you while also watching that you&#8217;re living to please God.\u00a0 If you keep doing these things and don&#8217;t give up even when you fail, you will fulfill the destiny God had for your life and bless many others in the process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Father, thank You for the calling You have on each person reading today&#8217;s GAME sharing.\u00a0 Thank You for the gifts You have given them.\u00a0 May they develop their gifts so that they can use them effectively and excellently for Your glory.\u00a0 May we all be careful to live in a way that is pleasing to You.\u00a0 Through both our example and our words, may we clearly and lovingly teach others who You are.\u00a0 In Jesus&#8217; name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <em> <em> Copyright \u00a9 2021 Justin Lim.
