'><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Ecclesiastes 10:1-10\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ecclesiastes+10%3A1-10&amp;version=NIV rel=\"> Click here for Bible Verses<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/23-1020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/23-1020.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/23-1020-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Ecclesiastes 10:1-10.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:1 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 1:\u00a0 A bottle of perfume can outweigh a dead fly in terms of size and surface area, yet that dead fly can compromise the usefulness of that perfume.\u00a0 Likewise, a person can have a lot of wisdom and honour, but a little folly can be their undoing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 2:\u00a0 This is not a reference to the politically right and the politically left, or the socially right and the socially left.\u00a0 Rather, in the Bible the right hand was seen as a place of favour, honour and strength.\u00a0 That is why Jesus is said to sit at the Father\u2019s right hand (Acts 2:33; Psalm 110:1).\u00a0 The Psalmist prays that God would save them by His right hand (Psalm 60:5).\u00a0 So verse 1 is saying that the heart of the wise tends to live where the best of God\u2019s favour, honour and protection reside, whereas fools tend to get the \u201cleft overs\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:3 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Even as he walks along the road, the fool lacks sense and shows everyone how stupid he is.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 3:\u00a0 In normal, ordinary situations, through a person\u2019s actions and words a fool can show how foolish they can be.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:4 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If a ruler&#8217;s anger rises against you, do not leave your post; calmness can lay great errors to rest.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 4:\u00a0 Qohelet advocates calmness in the face of anger.\u00a0 When someone loses their cool and storms at you verbally, resist the temptation to lose your cool as well.\u00a0 Keep calm and maintain your composure so that you can avoid making a bad mistake or making the situation worse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:5-7 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0There is an evil I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises from a ruler:<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Fools are put in many high positions, while the rich occupy the low ones.<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I have seen slaves on horseback, while princes go on foot like slaves.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 5-7:\u00a0 Qohelet laments how sometimes it seems like the wrong people get promoted and elevated, while the right people are held down.\u00a0\u00a0 We must remember that ultimately it is God who decides who will be exalted and who will be brought down (Psalm 75:6-7).\u00a0 When the person whom we see being promoted is not our choice, we must remember that God is just and is not done writing His story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:8-9 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them; whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 8-9:\u00a0 In any endeavour there is always a risk.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to be aware of the risks, and at the same time not be controlled by fear.\u00a0 Otherwise, you\u2019ll never move forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 10:\u00a0 Sometimes it\u2019s not a matter of trying harder but working smarter; not about exerting more strength but growing in skill.<\/p>\n<p>Of the several lessons we can learn from Qohelet\u2019s short statements above, which one do you need to especially keep in mind today?<\/p>\n<p><em>Father, thank You that in Jesus Christ I am a child at Your right hand, the right hand of Your protection and favour.\u00a0 Please help me to be wise in all the ways Your Word talks about.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2021 Justin Lim.
