Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n

Today’s passage is 1 Kings 22:41-53.\u00a0 Let’s go!<\/p>\n

On verses 41-51:\u00a0 In these verses we see two kings — King Jehoshaphat of Judah and King Ahaziah of Israel.\u00a0 These two kings were polar opposites. Jehoshaphat loved God, did what was right in God’s eyes and would go onto a long 25 year reign and become one of Judah’s greatest kings.\u00a0 In contrast, Ahaziah worshiped idols, provoked the Lord to anger, and had only 2 years to reign as king in Israel.\u00a0 \u00a0However, Jehoshaphat and Ahaziah both had one thing in common: each followed in his father’s footsteps.\u00a0 Notice what it says about Jehoshaphat:<\/p>\n

“In everything he\u00a0walked in the ways of his father Asa\u00a0and did not stray from them” (v43)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

and about Ahaziah:<\/p>\n

“…he walked in the ways of his father and mother<\/em>…He served and worshiped Baal and provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger,\u00a0just as his father had done<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For better or for worse, both Jehoshaphat and Ahaziah followed in their fathers’ footsteps!<\/p>\n

What can we learn from this?\u00a0 Parents, do not underestimate the impact you have on the spiritual lives of your children.\u00a0 Whether you want it or not, and whether your children want it or not, your children will inevitably learn and pick up things just by watching you, living with you, and being under your authority.\u00a0 The way you relate to God will affect how they relate to God.\u00a0 The way you treat others will affect how they treat others.\u00a0 So make it a point to pass on a legacy that is worth following.\u00a0 Set a great example for the next generation, so that by following you they’re doing something good and right.<\/p>\n

Heavenly Father,\u00a0<\/em>I realize today that, whether for good or for bad, my children and those in my care WILL watch what I do and learn from my example.\u00a0 So\u00a0<\/em>I pray that I would be an example worth following for my children and the generation coming after me.\u00a0 In Jesus’ name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
