Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s passage is Hebrews 4:12-16.\u00a0 These verses are worth memorizing.\u00a0\u00a0They contain some powerful truths that we need to store up in our hearts.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n

Hebrews\u00a04:12\u00a0(NIV)<\/strong>
\n12\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verse\u00a012:\u00a0\u00a0Though the Scriptures (the logos \u201cword of God\u201d) were written thousands of years ago, they are incredibly relevant, applicable and helpful for us today.\u00a0\u00a0Case in point: just before this, in verses 1 to 11 the writer of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0gave a powerful sermon on Psalm 95 to communicate the powerful and relevant truth that trusting in Jesus\u2019 finished work on the cross allows us to enter God\u2019s rest.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0What can we learn from this?\u00a0\u00a0God actively uses the Scriptures to speak into our current situations<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0God\u2019s Word truly is living and active.<\/p>\n

Hebrews\u00a04:13 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong>
\n13\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verse 13:\u00a0\u00a0God sees everything we think, say and do and He\u2019s the One we are accountable to.<\/p>\n

Hebrews\u00a04:14-15 (NIV)<\/em><\/strong>
\n14\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
\n15\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verses 14-15:\u00a0\u00a0Jesus is our great high priest who can empathize with our weaknesses and relate to our temptations because he took on human flesh too (v14-15).\u00a0\u00a0Though Jesus was tempted like us, Jesus lived the life that none of us could live, a life without sin (v15).\u00a0\u00a0Thus He is the perfect bridge between us and a perfect God, the perfect high priest to represent sinners in God\u2019s holy presence.<\/p>\n

Hebrews\u00a04:16 (NIV)<\/strong>
\n16\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,\u00a0so that<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.<\/em><\/p>\n

On verse 16:\u00a0\u00a0Because Jesus is our perfect high priest, we can approach God\u2019s throne of grace confidently.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s like when you have the absolute best lawyer in the world representing you in court.\u00a0\u00a0You have complete confidence in his abilities and your worries are minimized.\u00a0\u00a0That\u2019s Jesus for us.\u00a0\u00a0We can approach a holy God with confidence, not confidence in our own abilities but in the abilities of our great high priest.<\/p>\n

Also, underline the words \u201cso that\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s a reminder that the attitude with which you approach God\u2019s throne of grace determines how much you will receive from Him:\u00a0\u00a0When we approach God\u2019s throne of grace\u00a0confidently<\/em>, our attitude of faith enables us to receive the grace and mercy from God that we desperately need (v16).\u00a0\u00a0When we approach God with no confidence, we receive very little.\u00a0\u00a0So approach your heavenly Father with confidence, not in your own abilities, but in the ability of your perfect representative and great high priest, Jesus Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Father, thank You for Your perfect Word, which is living and active, sharper than a double-edged sword.\u00a0 Thank You that I can have complete confidence when I approach You, not a confidence in my own abilities, but a confidence in my perfect advocate, my faithful representative, and my high priest.\u00a0\u00a0His name is Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n
