{"id":29036,"date":"2023-12-03T22:00:36","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T05:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/hebrews-10_11-18-copy\/"},"modified":"2023-11-29T11:05:17","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T18:05:17","slug":"hebrews-10_19-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/hebrews-10_19-25\/","title":{"rendered":"The Difference Jesus Makes to Our Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>Hebrews 10:19-25 <\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews+10%3A19-25&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">(CLICK HERE FOR\u00a0BIBLE VERSES)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29038 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/23-1204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/23-1204.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/23-1204-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs!<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is\u00a0Hebrews\u00a010:19-25.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hebrews\u00a010:19-25 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0and since we have a great priest over the house of God,<br \/>\n<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another&#8211;and all the more as you see the Day approaching.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses\u00a019-25:\u00a0\u00a0Here the author of Hebrews reminds us of how Jesus is our great high priest (v21) and how through Jesus\u2019 shed blood and sacrificed body we are able to freely enter God\u2019s holy presence (v19-20).\u00a0\u00a0Starting in verse 22, the writer of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0shows how our relationships both vertically with God and horizontally with others can change when Jesus is in the mix.\u00a0\u00a0In particular, the writer of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0tells us 5 things that we ought to do in response to who Jesus is and what He has done.\u00a0\u00a0Two of those five things are vertically-oriented.\u00a0\u00a0They have to do with our relationship with God: drawing near to God with full assurance of faith even when we sin (v22) and holding on to the hope we have in Jesus even in our toughest times (v23).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The other three things are horizontally-oriented.\u00a0\u00a0They have to do with our relationships with other people, in particular other Christians:\u00a0\u00a0considering how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds (v24), not giving up meeting together (v25) and encouraging one another (v25).<\/p>\n<p>Praise God!\u00a0\u00a0The cross is not only the place where Jesus died, but the cross also symbolizes the direction that a relationship with Jesus moves us in: a relationship with Jesus causes us to love God more deeply in the vertical direction and love others more deeply in the horizontal direction.<\/p>\n<p>These verses are worth memorizing!\u00a0\u00a0I encourage you to memorize them and store them up in your heart.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lord Jesus, thank You for opening up through Your body and Your blood a new way for us to draw near to God.\u00a0\u00a0Since You\u2019ve opened up this new way, may we make the most of it, making the most of our relationship with the Father and our relationships with one another.
