Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hebrews 13:1-9 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.<br \/>\n<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.<br \/>\n<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, &#8220;Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So we say with confidence, &#8220;The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.<br \/>\n<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verses 1-9:\u00a0\u00a0While the book of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0contains more doctrine than most other New Testament books, it also contains some of the most important teaching on how to practically live out your life as a Christian.\u00a0\u00a0In these verses, the writer of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0gives us 7 actions he wants his readers to take in light of all that Jesus has done for us:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Keep loving your fellow Christians as brothers and sisters.\u00a0\u00a0Treat them as family (v1).<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Show hospitality to strangers (v2).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0As a motivating reason, the writer of\u00a0Hebrews\u00a0alludes to times in the Old Testament where someone entertained a stranger who turned out to be an angel (see for example Genesis 18 and 19).<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Serve prisoners and those who are mistreated (v3).<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Honor God\u2019s design for sex, that sex be reserved for those who are married to one another (v4).<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Avoid idolizing money and be content with what you have, knowing that God is with you and for you (v5-6).<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Appreciate your spiritual leaders.\u00a0\u00a0Take the good things you have seen in them and learned from them and apply them to your life (v7).\u00a0\u00a0Just as Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (v8), aim for consistency.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Do not be carried away by strange teachings but keep centering yourself around the grace of God expressed in Jesus Christ (v9).<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<p>Which of the above actions do you need to start doing?<\/p>\n<p><em>Father, thank You that Your Word doesn\u2019t just give us a lot of information, but it leads us to transformation.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0May I not just be well-informed by Your Word, but may I be well-transformed by it, that my life would reflect Your powerful and living Word.\u00a0\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Copyright \u00a9 2021 Justin Lim.
