Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>59\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On verse 52-59:\u00a0 When taken out of context these words from Jesus may sound like Jesus is promoting cannibalism or a vampire culture.\u00a0 But read these words in context and it is clear that when Jesus talks about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, Jesus is not talking about actually physically his flesh and drinking his blood; rather Jesus is talking about believing in him.\u00a0 As Jesus says in verse 47, \u201cI tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Whenever you come across a verse or a passage in the Bible that you find hard to understand, always consider the context (i.e. what is written immediately before it and after it as well as the surrounding background behind it) so that you can better understand its intended meaning.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, notice that over and over Jesus connects eating his flesh (i.e. believing in him) with life:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>\u201cI tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you\u201d (v53)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.\u201d (v54)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cthe one who feeds on me will live because of me\u201d (v57)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYour forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.&#8221; (v58)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Notice that Jesus keeps connecting himself with real life.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>When you find Jesus, you find real life that nothing else can give you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Lord Jesus, thank You that with You there is life.\u00a0 Thank You that when I\u2019m with You, I find life that I can\u2019t find anywhere else.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><em>Copyright \u00a9 2021 Justin Lim.
