{"id":32490,"date":"2024-09-13T22:00:10","date_gmt":"2024-09-14T05:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/acts-23_1-11-copy\/"},"modified":"2024-08-06T20:47:28","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T03:47:28","slug":"acts-23_23-35","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/acts-23_23-35\/","title":{"rendered":"You Are Surrounded by God\u2019s Protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Acts 23:23-35\u00a0 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+23%3A23-35&amp;version=NIV\" rel=\"noopener\">(CLICK HERE FOR\u00a0BIBLE VERSES)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32493 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/24-0914a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/24-0914a.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ocbf.ca\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/24-0914a-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi GAMErs,<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s passage is Acts 23:23-35.\u00a0 As usual,\u00a0I encourage you to read the passage yourself first and see what you can glean with the Holy Spirit\u2019s help, then read the GAME sharing below.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Acts 23:23-33 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Then he called two of his centurions and ordered them, &#8220;Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at nine tonight.<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Provide mounts for Paul so that he may be taken safely to Governor Felix.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0He wrote a letter as follows:<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Claudius Lysias, To His Excellency, Governor Felix: Greetings.<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, but I came with my troops and rescued him, for I had learned that he is a Roman citizen.<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I wanted to know why they were accusing him, so I brought him to their Sanhedrin.<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0I found that the accusation had to do with questions about their law, but there was no charge against him that deserved death or imprisonment.<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When I was informed of a plot to be carried out against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also ordered his accusers to present to you their case against him.<br \/>\n<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul with them during the night and brought him as far as Antipatris.<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The next day they let the cavalry go on with him, while they returned to the barracks.<br \/>\n<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0When the cavalry arrived in Caesarea, they delivered the letter to the governor and handed Paul over to him.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 23-33:\u00a0 Claudius Lysius, the Roman commander in charge of Paul, wants to make sure that Paul is not killed prematurely and that Paul is taken safely to Caesarea to stand trial before Felix governor of Judea.\u00a0 To ensure Paul\u2019s safety, the Roman commander mobilizes a huge detachment of soldiers, horsemen and spearmen to accompany Paul together with a formal letter explaining the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Just as Paul had the protection of a huge army around him, so you, as a child of God, are protected by heaven\u2019s armies.\u00a0 Through your faith in Jesus, you are \u201cshielded by God\u2019s power\u201d (1 Peter 1:5).\u00a0 There is no trouble or harm that can come to you unless God allows it for His greater purpose.\u00a0 As Jesus Himself says in John 10:28-29:\u00a0<sup>\u201c<\/sup>I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.\u00a0\u00a0My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father&#8217;s hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Acts 23:34-35 (NIV)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0The governor read the letter and asked what province he was from. Learning that he was from Cilicia,<br \/>\n<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0he said, &#8220;I will hear your case when your accusers get here.&#8221; Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod&#8217;s palace.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nOn verses 34-35:\u00a0 Governor Felix reads Lysius\u2019 letter and decides that since Paul is from Cilicia, which was within Felix\u2019s jurisdiction, Felix would hear Paul\u2019s case.\u00a0 In the verse that follow we\u2019ll take a close look at Paul\u2019s trial before Felix in Caesarea.<\/p>\n<p><em>Thank You Father that, as Your child, I am protected by heaven\u2019s armies and shielded by Your power.\u00a0 Thank You that You will fulfill Your purpose for my life and because I am protected by You, I will arrive safely when the time is right.\u00a0 In Jesus\u2019 name, AMEN!<\/em><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2022 Justin Lim.
